If the final boss was Reservoir Chickens instead of Nim Shondu I'd be stuck forever.

I personally didn't find him that difficult. My 13 year old brother did it on xbox 4 days ago and managed it on his second attempt. Don't really know what you guys are doing that are dieing so much.
This may help a bit.
Phase 1 - Run around like a mad man so he can't get a hit in. Shoot when you can.
Phase 2 - Stay at the opposite end of the room to him and shoot. When he spawns up top, shoot as many as you can and then pillar hide.
Phase 3 - Run around the pillars and shoot when you can, avoid his specials by standing behind one of the pillars and it is gg.
This guy had nothing on the first level of Contra =P.
Off topic, but... People always talk about how hard contra was, but honestly it doesn't have **** on Ghosts and Goblins.
He wasnt that hard, infact i actually enjoyed the battle. It added something different and actually felt like i was fighting an Ark hunter.![]()
Just reading and passing by all of the feedback, thanks guys.
Thank you, -Slay

Reading through all the people having problems made me fear when I'd fight him on my own. Happened last night, and honestly it was ridiculously easy.
I found that the first stage was by far the hardest, followed by 2 and then 3.
Equip a low-timed shield and a BMG. I used a Respark Blastproof II D shield and FRC Tele-Spanner BMG.
Stage 1 : just keep moving around while attacking him. As long as you're using A or D a lot (strafing if you're on a console) he will never hit you except for when he does hit three rocket attack (of which you will easily regen right after)
Stage 2 : Just keep moving while attacking. If your shields get dropped, just regen them
Stage 3 : Kite him around one of the pillars. He should never do damage to you like this (both of his AoE attacks are nullified by the pillar as long as you're on the opposite side)
Not sure if it's supposed to be like this, but the Respark and the BMG seriously trivialize this fight and make it to where you should never die, even on your first attempt.

I found the fight to be challenging (and still enjoyable), but not totally cheap.
Well, the very end where he starts spamming "that" move was borderline cheap , but anyone with even one or two defensive perks, and a good shield should be able to manage.
For the record, I fought him with an FRC SAW with no mods, Decoy, and the green cluster nades from the story. Never actually died to him, but came close a couple of times (went down once, near the end, he trapped me next to a couple of the terraforming crystal things and detonated them with "that" move).
Just gotta play it cautiously. It was definitely one of the most enjoyable final boss battles of the last decade for me. Though, the fight curiously seemed to lack an epic score to go along with it (bug maybe?).
I just faced this guy expecting the hardest boss fight of 2013 after reading a lot of posts saying that this guy was a nightmare and how some people have ragequit because of him.
Nim Shondu is one of the easiest bosses I've ever fought, most of the perks I had equipped were useless because I had no idea about the fight so I was using a lot of crouch perks which I couldn't use at all because I had to keep moving. Didn't die, didn't even go down, it took me less than a minute on phase 1, about 2 minutes on face 2, and a little over 3 minutes on the last phase. I only used a VOT Mass Cannon.
With the way people talk about this fight, I thought it was gonna be as hard as some of the bosses in Dark Souls.
BMG the entire fight. I could heal and deal damage. BMG bypassed his shields in the first round, with the second I could hit multiple targets and the last round I just had to keep the center pillar between him and me and just roll around. Took me longer than I am sure it needed to, about 20 min but he was very simple to beat.
