Did you play Dark Souls? If so, I'm sure Ornstein and Smough would be on a higher pedestal than this push-over.

i used overcharge with a combat shotty, for full mag reload instead of 1 shell at a time, with a bmg for backup to heal quicker. he killed me 1 time in the first phase. i must admit though if you run in and try to be aggressive with him, your probably gonna loose. after he killed me i really just took my time and dodged a few of his attacks without shooting him to learn his routine. to beat him easily in my opinion your ego power doesnt really matter. you just have to sit back be patient and let him come to you. shoot dodge shoot etc.

as for the hardest boss...this guy could be a pain in the arse but the worst he is not....i'll fight him 100 times before i would want to fight the last big boss dude in prototype. that dude is just ridiculous

i stood behind one of the pillars and did circles when he would jump up and smash the ground. plus the pillar was good to dodge behind his 4 burst missile thing. though i will agree when tossing those at me the dodging felt like i would get hit by 1 of 4 no matter what. like i couldnt dodge good enough. but my bmg healed me quick enough to switch to the shotty and cap his arse

I had the most issues with phase one. His dash attack thing has a ridiculous AOE on it. Took me 3 deaths to figure out that you could tell what direction he was going to dodge. The rest is reaction based. Having a shield with a 3 second recharge delay really helped too.

I went into this fight with no idea what to expect with a sniper, smg, and cloak loadout. By the third try I had stopped using cloak altogether and had switched to overcharge, which, in my intense focus, I also forgot about. Basically beat the bastard 3rd try with nothing but an smg. No powers and no beneficial perks (all my perks were geared toward sniping). Took me about 15 minutes once I learned his quirks and how to time my dodges.

    Y'all whine too much.

I tried Nim first on Friday night. It was late and I'd had a few beers. I got smashed in phase one and gave up for the night. I was woefully unprepared so I watched some YouTube vids and read some threads.

I spent Saturday running side missions and knocking over some goals as I was at EGO 300 and felt really under powered. I also started playing with some other weapons. I couldn't land enough solid hits with the AR / Bolt Action I was using.

I got to EGO 500 and slotted Fortitude 3, Cellular Armor 3, Regeneration 3, Thick Skinned 3 and Scavenger 3 (although this last one had no bearing on the boss fight). I had cloaking maxed out as my ability. I then fitted a purple Ironclad Regenerator III DX shield and a green Bionet-X Mag-collider BMG fully modded.

On Sunday morning I woke up fresh, made a coffee and got to it. I never had to switch from the BMG, the damage was a small amount but reliable and steady. The ability to self heal if I got hit combined with the cloak to get out of bad positions was great.

Phase 1: I just kept moving, shooting and healing.

Phase 2: I used the chain attack on the BMG to take out multiple clones at once when they bunched up and just kept moving using the pillars for cover.

Phase 3: I had to self res once in this phase. It was more of the same run, heal & shoot with the BMG. Running away from or bunny hopping out of his ground AOE.

This is the vid I followed most closely: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62k9wgAB7qM and it went pretty much the same way for me.

Nim required a bit of preparation and a rethink of my tactics. It was satisfying to beat him in the end. I was a little concerned on Saturday morning I might get stuck and not be able to progress the story but thankfully I got it worked out. I wouldn't like to see any harder bosses except in a multiplayer environment.

Never have I ever faced a video game boss that hard, really. I did it with purple and orange weapons, at ego 384, my ability overcharge. I counted and it took me:

    1st phase - 4 deaths
    2nd phase - 6 deaths
    3rd phase - 3 deaths

By deaths, that is referring to extractions. Not self revives. Would be x2 the number of self revives. I would just like to point out and there are [countless] others who do agree with me in saying this boss is one of the hardest, and very disappointing bosses also. There is little to no skill involved with the boss honestly. It's a rinse and repeat cycle and once you nail down what to do, you will get it, the training in the game and the entire campaign just led up to rolling all over the place trying to dodge fireballs for 1 hour of trying to kill Nim and the clones in the 2nd phase was almost impossible, I will say though I had the biggest smile ever after each phase was done, and this boss was incredibly hard. I believe he needs to be nerfed, honestly.

    EDIT:

Thanks for the (mature) replies guys. It seems there's people on both sides, either died alot or never died honestly.
I will say I used an Assault Rifle with a scope (making it hard in a small space) and a Sawed off (useless when he has a sword)
I used no defensive perks, the perks I used only benefited reducing my overcharge rate. In general I see now I went about the completely wrong way of handling him, and that's probably what messed me over. I feel like if you have the right setup, he could be incredibly easy, but for me it was honestly just constantly dodging with a 9.6 recharge delay shield, trying not to die.

    Thanks anyways, guys.

    EDIT 2:

Thanks for again the countless feedback, i'm reading it. I enjoy reading all your tips and regretting using a rhino shield, lol. This also serves people who aren't doing the boss fight easily with tips given in the posts. Thanks, also I never said he was the hardest boss, I said he was the hardest boss i've faced. Clearing up that confusion, people seem to be bringing up other games into the subject.
I only had to revive once, and that's because I didn't get behind the pillar during one of his knock-back attacks in the third phase and he was right next to me and slashed me with his sword, forcing me to use my self-revive.

Nim Sondu's got nothing on The Flamelurker, Ornstein & Smough, Artorias of the Abyss, Manus, The Dark Demon from Demon's Crest, Darth Malak for an improperly built character in KotOR 1, etc. In fact, my experience with Demon's Souls and Dark Souls made him extremely easy because of the -VERY- obvious tells to his attacks that always have a rather long recovery time to them as well.

LOL, I remember those guys.... good times.

I actually made the exact same comparison in one of my posts a while back in this thread.

Every boss in Dark Souls is more difficult than Nim....Especially...the four kings.

Not even. Nim's got nothing on the belfry gargoyles. It took me 2 deaths to kill the gargoyles and get the drops I wanted. Nim took 1 try and 5 minutes, not to mention I was texting some people while fighting Nim.

I used overcharge as well. But, i let him come to me and pumped him full of overcharged buckshots from a shotty. Still died a few times, and i did hate how he hit me through the columns on the 3rd stage.

One thing I find useful is the Blast Shield perk because I -think- it affects the projectiles he and his decoys can throw at you, so you can make their effective radius only 55% of what it normally is, allowing you some breathing room. Fortitude 3 and Regeneration at 3 do help if he actually manages to hit you. That move where his decoys appear on the upper half to fling a sword at you is reduced in power by a lot when you're sporting an extra 225 health and manage to get struck by a few of them. As others have said, use a Respark shield, preferably one with +25% health regen because sometimes yes he can hit you and then it's all about recovering quickly. Ironclad shields are not what you want, the delay is too long and regen amount is far too low. On fights with non-super aggressive-tactics heavy bosses and enemies, Ironclas is a winner, but against Nim Sondu's relentless attacks that only leave a few seconds between them, Respark wins hands down. I use that burst AR for distance, but an automatic combat shotgun that fired Syphon nano effect pellets for the rest of the fight since he loves to close distance and he can be staggered by the shots.
