If the PC doesn't have the snap aim system that the consoles have then I could understand people claiming he is difficult.
However, if you properly abuse the snap aim and keep on the move (a 3 sec. shield is best for the few times your shield might drop) then you can beat all three stages in about 5 mins total with an LMG and never seriously be in danger of dying.
Yeah, I should have explained a little better:
If you are playing with snap aim then you should be CONSTANTLY re-snapping. You may only hit him two or three times each time you snap to him but with an LMG or high powered Assault rifle you will still quickly tear him up. If you are constantly moving (including doing a lot of jumping) while doing this he doesn't hit you very often. If he does get your shields down then immediately stop trying to hit him and focus on avoidance. This is where having a 3 second recharge delay shield is vital.
He has some basic movement patterns which are pretty easy to learn. If you can pick up on those it makes him even easier.
I'd dare say that for the majority of bosses in games, it is a matter of learning how the boss works and how to counter it (which may or may not require fast reaction times and correct placement) in order to beat it to a bloody pulp. The tools may vary, but often it is possible to beat a boss with a multitude of different tools (whether its with melee weapons, magic, psi powers, guns, bows... whatever!). Once you learn how the boss works, it will become so much easier.
For some people learning a boss takes longer, while others easily beat it the first time around. Nerfing Nim is still not the way to go. Allowing him to be done in co-op would be fine.

Bumping this thread (sorry for 4 days of no bumps)
I'm arriving at San Francisco, on my way to almost redoing Nim! I'll let you know my 2nd impression.

just use your pillar humping abilities from WoW pvp arena.
phase 1: just sprint around in a figure 8 and use an smg, bmg or infector to add dmg when you get a chance
phase 2&: pillar hump with an infector or bmg
phase 2 is the best part, 1 & 3 are very boring.
A simple YouTube search will prove that this boss isn't all that hard and does NOT require a nerf. Stop abusing your favourite weapons and mix it up a bit and find out what works!
After 30mins or so of ripping my hair out I stumbled upon this helpful video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62k9wgAB7qM Sure it's not the most fun way of completing this boss fight, but it's very effective and very easy!
Here's another video of someone doing it without the 'cheat' BMG weapon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9l0HCSL_zA and another http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wR9xLDWixDc I could post heaps more proving there's really no need for the "ZOMGZZ!!! Dis Boss iz HaRd pLzZZZ nErrrrrrF!!!111111111 WAHHHHHHH!!!1111" response.
