    Probably.

But what are they doing in game to raise their Ego when no side missions are available? Grinding Arkfalls?

Between having a job and a social life, I do not have the time to play 24/7 to boost my Ego.

    That could do it.

Going to re-write this thread as it's sending off a bad signal.

    SUGGESTED NERF:
Allow Co-op help with this boss and scale it to tune. This allows friends to help those who need help and balances the boss. Balancing shields is a big part, and those who use Respark shields are at an advantage to those with Rhinos. Adding co-op ability to this boss will make the game more balanced because now everyone would be playing a supportive role. Gear setup (Guns, grenades) and build is less of a disadvantage as you may be supporting the fight while a friend is healing.Ego abilities, an example being cloak and decoy help more than overcharge and blur. Sawed off shotguns are less useful due to his sword, snipers are less useful due to a close environment. With a new co-op ability this will balance the ego powers slightly and be a great counter to help shields. I've read every reply and feel this would be an efficient nerf.

    Additional nerfs if possible.
    • Make the boss be one scaling in difficulty to the amount of players
    • Make the boss' hits affect everyone in the game. Fireballs launched at all players.

At the moment until this nerf is read and acknowledged, hopefully integrated here is what I recommend and don't recommend.

Very bad setup for solo play
    • Rhino Shield (Around 1700 capacity, 9.6 delay)
    • Sawed off shotgun (Useless when he has a sword)
    • Any gun with a scope forcing ADS[Aim down sight] (Useless in close quarters)
    • Ego ability: Overcharge

    Now that I've read alot of replies and comments;
Recommended setup for those attempting Nim:
    • Respark Shield. (Around 1,050 capacity, 40%+ recharge, 3 delay)
    • Regular shotgun, either pump or combat. Don't use a sawed off.
    • BMG to heal yourself. This makes it alot harder to die.
    • Infector, or any gun with AOE or homing. Helps when running and gunning.
    • Ego Power: Cloak or Decoy will help out alot.

I died 14 times the first time I attempted nim, using the class I now labelled as 'bad setup'. I reattempted nim, and on my second try did not die 1 single time using the recommended setup.

    Original Post:
No offence intended. Just a heads up.

But I thought you were trolling at first lol.

In NO WAY should this boss get nerffed, for ANY reason.

Im sorry, I was actually LOOKING FORWARD to drying, and having a challenge.

I did not die once...I went down once, but never had to extract...to say I was disappointed is a understatement.

May I ask what about him was even slightly difficult??

EGO does nothing and wouldnt help with the boss at all, even slightly.

It can be done at like EGO 30 with any shotgun/assault combo...(and a shield under 6 recharge)

It's all about the setup when facing this guy, plus a bit of intelligent thinking helps here and there, I only died once it total on the last phase cause I went to grab ammo and got a orange spike up the rectum... =( (ie: I used El Diablo, Decoy with a few of the defencive perks and a Respark shield. Just keep on the move and you shouldn't die, unless your stupid and do a Leroy Jenkins charge directly into the bastard, could be fun though when the charge blade is avaliable =) )

Maybe you should get better at the game before you fight Nim. I guess actually being challenged isn't in style anymore. Not that Nim was much of a challenge, but it was a different experience and fun, nonetheless.

That's true it was different and it was fun, and I enjoyed the fight.

Its not like it was EASY, don't get me wrong, but it does not need any nerfing, of any kind...

The only thing to take away from this thread is that player skill (that means YOU not your character) is the biggest influencing factor in something like the Nim fight. If you need to strategize Nim specific builds/setups that's fine but is in NO way indicative that Nim needs a nerf. I've said already that I beat Nim with Overcharge, a SAW lmg, and a rebel charger shield, aka what I was wearing when I walked in.

Anyway, what I found totally frustrating is that the game changes for these boss fights. For example, someone has linked to a shoot'em up boss fight video on the first page. Now, aside of the fact that in oldschool shoot'em ups you would have died on the first contact with any enemy bullet/particle, these games always behaved the same, for example you lost all your addons and got reset to some previous point in the level. It went like that if you died somewhere mid-level, it went like that at the boss fights. Frustrating in a way, yes, but it always was consistent throughout the game.

In Defiance, most of the story line missions and all the side missions etc. pretty much give you "free" respawn and no reset of the mission whatsoever. However, at these boss fights, the game changes completely in that regard, which means you start from the beginning after a "real" death, you have to go through the cut scenes again and so on. Exactly this inconsistency with the rest of the game is one of the main reasons of creating such frustration for some players. Having the respawn mechanic being the same as everywhere else in the game would change the amount of complaints a great deal already.

and people would complain about those missions being too hard.

I did not find this boss hard at all. I died 1 time during the first phase. He is def. Doable and should not be nerfed.
