I've been noticing tonight that i can be doing a mission or just running around killing stuff for fun, and even when im in totally protected cover, im being hit quite badly. In nearly all of these cases, im nowhere near the mobs actually attacking me, let alone in their line of sight. I investigated and noticed a whole bunch of mobs attacking this single empty space where I don't believe i had even been before, but when they attack that, I get hurt. My bullets kill them relatively instantly (as they would normally) and then it stops damaging me when they all die so it doesn't sound like lag. Also, I just tried an arkfall, and i was being shot for massive amounts of damage from a source I couldn't identify, when i had to extract, as soon as i got within a few hundred meters of the arkfall, I started being shot again, it LOOKS like it was from the mutant choppers but they are so far that my attacks do nothing to it, and there is no way of getting there before I get killed. Surely this isn't a bug, because this is impossible to get around on my own, and its only a minor arkfall, I know i might not be able to complete it on my own, but surely I must be able to go within a km of it on my own without being killed randomly.
