How do you stop auto switching of weapons?

Every time I pick up a new weapon it gets switched to my current weapon, and that is getting a bit annoying.
I have to keep going back and switching every time.
Is there a way to turn off automatic switching to a weapon picked up, even when better than the one in hand?

Don't hold in 'E' when you pick it up, since that's when you equip it. Just press E once to pick it up.

If you just tap the "e" key it should put it into the inventory, if you are holding it down it will auto equip. I hope that helps, otherwise it may be a bug.
