As many have said new content will be coming once the show opens up onthe 15th. DLC will be coming as well but Trion has stated that they don't wish to separate people from their friends by making the content only avaiblable for paying customers. The area and missions will be free from what I understand, but any loot you get you will not be able to keep until you buy the content. Likewise you won't be able to use any other races that come out unless you buy the DLC.

Trion has done an amazing job with their Rift community, and they intend to extend the same courtesy to their Defiance community, but you have to give them time to fix the launch issues first, then they'll focus on adding more content to the game, and maybe even take some of our suggestions into light.

For now just sit back and explore the map. Kill things in ways you never have before, like instead of running with an LMG all the time repect into cloak and use a sniper/shotgun combo, or sniper/smg in my case. Raise your skill in other weapons. I played through the entirety of the main story with just a sniper, smg, and cloak, and it was fun, but I've recently switched to AR/shotty with overcharge and my God is it fun. I would have lost interest in the game though if I had not switched.

Little things like that will help keep your interest in the game. Sometimes in MMOs you have to give yourself something to do, like in Skyrim or Minecraft (not mmos I know, but you get the point). Sure you can't build yourself a golden **** and balls or a skull fortress who's eyes weep lava flows (kudos to anyone that gets that reference), but there are lots of little things that you can do in defiance to keep yourself busy. Right now I'm trying to get the salvage I need to put the last mod slot on my VOT Autofragger (19,050). That will keep me busy for a little while, then once I get that I'll be trying to get my "perfect weapon" by modding it to my liking. Getting the mods with the synergy that I want though isnt going to be easy with all the Brutals I keep getting.

    TL;DR
Basically there are lots of little things that you can do to stay busy. Just get out there and explore and you'll find them soon enough. Try ditching the vehicle and going on foot to see what you can find.

    Y'all whine too much.

Don't worry guys! There are patches upon patches coming, which will bring your BETA experience to a state of a RETAIL product!
Fear not, this is all a part of the magnificent plan to be unveiled by Trion.

It's the new way to do business in the MMO market - meet your publishing deadline no matter what, and relaunch the product later after everyone has already paid for it.

Then, make them pay for it again!

SWTOR did the same thing and suffered so badly due to the mistake, that they had to go F2P.

    Word of warning....

SWTOR failed because it was nothing more than yet another bland WoW-clone with MOAR VOICEOVERS! Woohoo. Really unfortunate that they had to waste the Star Wars IP on such crap. They could have done something so much more unique with the massive budget and huge IP available.

Long time reader first time poster...

I have a bit of a different perspective, I purposely stayed out of the beta didn't pre-order and waited a few days for the game to launch, after spending several hours in the game I can say that the complaints about technical issues are valid (and Trion seems to be busting their assess to fix them) but the ""There is nothing to do" whine is just silly; yes I suppose if you have spent weeks in beta and lived in the game since launch you may be a little burned out...that's okay go play something else or maybe go outside.

Personally I'm having a blast I hooked up with a decent group of people and I'm getting quite a bit of enjoyment for my sixty bucks and no monthly fees I like that the game has a Borderlands vibe as that's what I was hoping for, it also means that model has an amazing amount of potential for add ons, expansions and new creative ways to play.

So go ahead stamp your feet and demand a refund....I think that has more to do with the common practice of buying a game and then returning it after you "beat" it (which should not be allowed.) I personally think the game is doing just fine, a lot of people are playing and the overall good word of mouth is bringing in even more people. I can't wait to see where we are in six months.

Some of the voiceovers in Defiance make me cringe, others amuse me. xD
I just wish that there was an option in the audio to turn off EGO. Her voice grates after a while. :x
    Maybe be considered Tool Tips.

I personally think it was genious of them to go off of Borderlands. Borderlands was a stable game and a lot of fun for what "little" it offered. It was rather linear and honestly had less to do collectively than Defiance does, but it was still a lot of fun hooking up with friends and listening to the funny exchanges between characters. One in particular comes to mind. Nearer to the end of the game where you don Handsome Jack's mask. The commando says "I now have the voice of an *******." That cracked me up when I first heard it and it still makes me smile.

I personally think that that is one of the things that Defiance is lacking. Good, witty conversations between the cast. Provided that Van Bach has his moments. He is quite amusing, and his obliviousness, common to people in his line of work, is quite laughable. I think they did a great job creating his character.

As far as your own character I would have prefered that they went with a Mass Effect style of having your character talk. They wouldn't even have to do a voice over for him/her, just put in some witty or serious lines and let us choose, then change the NPC's reactions based on what we chose.

Anyway I'm ranting now. Slow day at work is slow.

and SWTOR had alot of exactly what ppl are whining this game should have. and if anything it should prove that the same thing wont work no matter the budget. you cant claim to want something new then complain when its different. most of what ppl are saying in here is they wanted a Rift shooter. Trion already has Rift, so it only makes sense to do something different. that way they can entice more players who prefer different things.

Dude even Skyrim which is single player feels to have 10xs more content than this one. And thats no excuse for a company like this to be less than one focuses on single player games.

LOl you must dont play games , single player games dont release with all there content anymore. They make you buy it DLC.
