Do something with chat channels

It must be me as an Mmo can not have absolutely no ingame chatting or clan invite shouts ect its like I am playing on my own server with the odd person running past

I need to troll I need to find a guild ect. Trade channels to trade stuff. World chat ect

Massive oversight me thinks considering Trion is associated with rift that has many chat channels

Or maybe I'm being a **** and can not find them

Such a good game so far but kinda getting lonely at high lvl and need some loving

Chat is there, but I do agree it needs to be expanded beyond a local chat. At the very least make it zone wide so you can communicate with others in that zone and get together to run some similar content.

Chat system is being addressed and we apparently will have a partial fix on the 15th and another fix 2 weeks after that it's just a matter of patience.

These are probably a hundred threads repeating the same thing, yet not actually outlining any proposal to the developers on what exactly it is that you NEED the chat to do.

Currently the chat is there, bottom right at a reduced size as to not be intrusive. You hit Enter once and it allows you to type. It also has several channels which will conveniently auto adjust your typing focus e.g. groupsay when you're in a group.

The chat also comes with a large /full size window, which can be maximized and minimized at will.

Lastly, any player interaction that is game related, has an underlying game mechanic in place to support.
If you want to do PVP or PVE instances, there's matchmaking.
If you want to find players local to your area, there's a way to find players based on proximity.
If you want to speak in local say for others close to you to read, you can do that as well.

The thing we do not have in the game regarding the chat, is a zone/local/global chat.
It would serve zero purpose in relation to playing the game and will only harbor the spam that we see in every other game that has such a channel.

The only 'wide' channel that I would support is a Help channel like Fallen Earth does - which is often moderated or has guides there to keep it on Help/game related subjects. People who continuously talk nonsense get muted.

You need a global chat as priority. Yes it will get trolled and if you don't like it then ignore it. Myself I love the global chats and the fun aspects that come with it. Also like a trade channel to trade n swap gear

So at the moment you are a loner because there's no global chat? Good logic
And I'm just a loner because I don't want to facilitate, engage or be witness to a global chat that is unnecessary? More good logic.

Still no definitive reasons on why global chat would benefit the game.
Until you can provide some, you'll continuously be seen as someone whom is too lazy or too ignorant to use the system(s) that are already in place, and you're more worried about socializing than playing the game.

While I do agree with what you're saying, I don't think we need to spell out what we want chat to be like to the developers.. As was said, Trion made Rift, and Rift's chat system is amazing. They will fix it I'm sure, but if you think they don't think there is a problem with it, I believe you are sorely mistaken..

I use the Chat but never get anything back and if i do its always someone saying "****" now im am very very very new to mmo's i have played about 3 in my life and they where PSO PSU and defiance i feel like the chat needs somthing to make it better also a private message system would be really nice but we will have to wait and see what they add.

"i know we do" - Chat in this game is just utterly god awful, i don't even know if chat shows when some one says something.... not seen anyone use it yet

actually when you standing at the crater surounded by players and noone is using the chat channel or responding to questions etc game related im wondering if other people can even see what im typing
