I use my LMG saw for arkfalls and ALWAYS am at the top of the list by a minimum of 200k damage done, I usually deal around 1.2million to 1.7 million damage.

Kill everything in sight, then shoot the dead bodies in case you missed someone. Then ask questions.
Also the best SAW I can conceive of would be:
2 piece "Preparedness" Synergy from Toolworks for 3% ammo Regeneration.
2 piece "???" Synergy from VBI for +Accuracy (which reduces the size of the aiming cursor)
1.15x Crit Multplier (base)
15% Grenade refresh on Kill OR 15% of ammo capacity restored on Kill.
Fire Nano proc.
Unfortunately those 4 synergies would require a scope if you don't get a base Frontier SAW from the Toolworks Vendor which is hit or miss so far on what procs it has and certainly doesn't have the same set bonuses. I'm not a huge fan of scopes cause they just limit your field of view and in many cases obscure the sight of the target because of the special effects coming out of the gun.

For shotguns, the one and only shotgun for me is the VAT Auto Fragger outside of the grenade launching shotty's which have a different use
It shoots 3 round burst per shot thus destroying anything up close in 1~2 triggers unless it's an elite
The SAW LMG is the best indeed, although there are ways of making the scoped assault rifle do even more dmg, it's just much easier to have the huge magazine capacity of the SAW
