Is there a point for me to level up?

From the start of the game, i have had an assault rifle that deals between 250-450 damage.
My shotguns do the same damage,
rocket launchers do the same damage
snipers either do 600 for semi and 1200 for bolt

my shields typically have between 1-1.5k cap and between 2.85-9 second recharge

Gear never really gets any better, enemies dont get any tougher. I can take just as much damage from the Mutants around the New Freedom or Dark Matter in San Fran

I dont feel any more powerful as ego 550 than i did at ego 1 save the few extra guns i found.

Derp. Ego isn't your level it's just a number around the lines of how much you have done so far.
Bought 400 bits got +5 inventory, exclusive outfit and extra experience for a day. Bought another 400 bits and got tier box 4 but it glitched out taking my bits and giving nothing in return.

Shields get more hit points the higher the ego rating
    Enemies do get tough.
Gear gets better, as you get higher ego rating you get access to more unique variations, then ofcorse its not easy to find full synergy sets which can be a rather substantial boost.
If you dont feel more powerful there could be a few reasons, your picking ****ty ego abilities, im a lot more powerful than i was
also your using the same weapon, doing that means your skills arnt leveling up, therefor your not getting better.

But sounds to me your looking for a gear grind kinda game, this isnt it, progression here is horrizontal and provides more changes to play style rather than escalating damage/ mob hit points.

At the end of the day you have to find a reason to play im at 750 and still have plenty of ego slots to open up, havent even come close to getting the perfect load outs yet, none of my skills are maxed out, havnt come close to getting a synergy set yet.
    Havnt been past marin yet.

Some people get it some dont.

More ego points, more perks, more flexibility.

The most important thing though is ... you just get more perk slots!
Leveling up and your characters power don't have anything to do with gear, but with the number of talents you can actually equip and it really makes all the difference.

And you level each weapon (and vehicle) class on it's own, which correlates with increasing EGO ratings.

Gear grind in the sense of reputation and lockboxes is still there ... higher rarity means better item in general. Same goes for Mods which seem small improvements on their own, but once you factor in the set boni and add everything up you can clearly see the difference.
A average player with all the best stuff will still be outclassed by an excellent one in green/blue gear of lesser EGO rating though ... it still is a shooter game and no hotkey MMO after all.

Some kinds of items (e.g. HP regen shields, various grenades) aren't available right from the start as well, same goes with different coop missions that unlock as you level up.

But the biggest difference to me still has nothing to do with your character's power ... but with inventory space - you gain inventory space with EGO rating!

Level up your weapons if you want to unlock better stats that carry over to all your weapons. Higher level weapons will allow you to level your main weapon types better and thus make you better.

Not your typical mmo progression system. This is good.

This is not a huge vertical progression game, if you bought it for that then at least you have learned a valuable lesson (work out what you are buying before you buy it...).

If I knew you wont find loot what makes you go like Yeahbuddy! I got it!! I would not buy this game. Dont get me wrong the game is fun to play but wont last long for me if I wont get better guns as I have. Had to do more research I agree but I never believed this system was that simple. So far a verry fun single player game.
