Someone somewhere had a link in their sig to the thread and link kiwi asked us to sign up on.
OMG! Are you serious? What were the voting results?
N/M stupid question...lol...of course it won, probably by a landslide.
*just noticed you said "backwards" compatible...not familiar with the xbox platform, so does it equate to a ps2?

C'mon Trion, next gen=cash windfall! Screw your other games. Defiance is where its at!

Backwards compatible means it can play certain games both on X360 & X1. Note you cannot play X1 games on the X360 however, only X360 games to X1.

When X1 was first released, they hadn't planned on making x360 games playable on X1. They were wanting players to buy the X360 games again for X1. But later scrapped it due to backlash from gamers who boycotted Xbox which hurt their sales & many went & bought PS4 rather than X1.
So, they caved in & did backwards compatibility.
Which just goes to show if nothing is happening from prior requests & you actually want something done, instead of wasting your precious time cussing out developers on forums. Simply get your fellow players together and stop purchasing stuff from their store, if you really want to light a fire under them to get them to fix what many demand to be fixed in the game. Even if unaware brand new players are coming in buying stuff, it would still take a big chunk out.
Hit em' where it hurts, money.
You are the customers, you run the show.
A lot of the time, issues can be resolved by simple making requests/complaints. But that's not always the case.

But yea, it's sorta like an emulator.

@Calm like a bomb yes I'm serious, I'll have a look see if I can find kiwi thread on it but the vote on the xbx wasn't that favourable compared to other games so they went with those first I assume.

I don't know if ps4 were doing the same thing but there wasn't any mention of it as I recall which makes me think because ps4 weren't doing it they couldn't do it for xbx.

I don't know if that's the case though but it seems feasible.

Also a problem with the xbx1 was that I think they were also trying to do away with disc copies and only wanted to do digital downloads.

Making 360 games backwards compatible was a way to force customers to use downloads instead of disc content which you could hold in your hands.

If you have a disc in your hand you have a sense of ownership which we lost here when the game went free to play.

    That too.
Basically back then, a group of friends would all pitch in to buy one game disc and then share it, rather than all of them having to buy the game individually. Knew some friends in another state that all did that.
They also changed license transfers, a lot of people were sharing games with each other that way.

I couldn't find the link to the thread kiwi created to go and vote but I managed to find the link to where you vote.

It's painfully obvious it didn't get that much support when you look at how many votes other games got.

Lol, look at COD all over the top of the list.

But hey good find. Out of curiosity, I looked up the game Happy Wars on there.
Which is a F2P game on X360 like Defiance, but it has been added to X1, unlike Defiance.

Look at the number of votes compared to Defiance's votes.
    Boy, ain't that a sad truth. ):

And it's the same with World of Tanks, F2P X360 game also now on X1.

That's why I thought it might have been more to do with ps4 not going backwards compatible than xbx wanting to.

But I could be wrong of course lol just my opinion.

Oh yea, I see what you were saying.

But still, Happy Wars went next-gen to X1(don't think it went PS4) & World of Tanks went next-gen on both X1 & PS4.
Meanwhile, Defiance isn't and the last thing from Trion stated it wasn't going next-gen anytime soon after being in contact with reps from Microsoft, and that was like well over a year ago.

Speaking of PlayStation, last I read they were working on some emulator, starting with bringing PS2 games to PS4?? Or something called PlayStation Now?

Even though they always said the game and the TV series were separate, it seems like the game just went downhill & lost a lot of publicity since the show got cancelled. As well as losing a lot of customer base since it is not on next-gen consoles now. I feel they are just focusing more on future developments now while keeping this game idling by for as long as it suitable, given all the facts.

The thing is Trion have a policy of treating all three systems the same, where this may hold the pc back xbx going next gen wasn't on the cards at the time for ps4 so you could say Sony held it all back by not doing it.

    If that's how it happened.

Yes, but they said they were in contact with reps from Xbox about it anyway based on plans to go to X1 and then stating it wasn't going next-gen anytime soon. This was well over a year ago, and no fruition took place. Must be more reasons to it, though I'm sure that had a part in it.

I had read on a previous article they were in talks of it going next-gen while the show was still going, this was before backwards compatibility was ever announced for either X1 or PS4. Trion declined the option. Stating at the time, the user base for both next-gen consoles was too small was the reason they didn't want to, not that it was because they weren't backwards compatible. This was around early 2014, I don't think X1's backwards compatibility was even announced till early 2015?
But backwards compatibility has been around for a while now for both systems I believe, it just works different for both systems. Yet, the transition to next-gen consoles never happened for Defiance, while all these other F2P games did. I don't even think World of Tanks was on PS3, just went F2P to both PS4 & X1. But not Defiance.
