I'd say if safe to assume it will be 7-10GB easy, but don't forget they said there will indeed be a day one patch which can be anything but they said it shouldn't be to large I'm guessing 200-500MB

People tend to install their games to hard drive and then forget.

I think I remember the guy on the IGN video saying that you could also use flash drives to put the updates on as well. I may be totally wrong or misheard him though. Anyone confirm for me?

AHHHHH NO! I have the 250GB Xbox and I only have about 10 gb left as it is. I need to uninstall some of my games. I use so much memory because I try to install all my singleplayer games to my hard drive. I like to play single player with minimal sound coming from my console with faster load times, which is why I usually install them. But whatever. I'll try to find one that I don't plan on playing any time soon.

He just said you could have it on a usb stick as well which you can do currently with anything on xbox as long as the usb is large enough. But imo its easier just to get a harddrive. You shouldn't really need to keep your downloads of games you don't play anymore but people seem to like keeping them installed.

believe they mentioned 5-7 on launch but you want to have 10 available because of DLC.

and yes, it was mentioned you could put it on a flash drive, though im not sure why you would... just delete a game or two from hard drive, or move some save files to cloud now that that is available.
