Also.. ALMOST (statisfied?) every game has a patch on launch. You know.. They don't put the game on that shiny disc of yours a day before release. It's done like 2 weeks prior to the launch date, meaning anything they need to fix and or any issues that find afterwards, have to be fixed in a patch. I like how you name a few games that didn't have a day 1 patch and tell him to "Try again..". How many games have you played? Maybe you should try again.

this was a download from PSN.

lol, I was too, (as you can see in the taskbar). I don't care how fast your connection is. I never said it was slow.

But soon, Google Fiber will be in Austin, and I will win that battle. http://www.kvue.com/news/Keep-Austin...201719771.html

Youve obviously never played an MMO cause they are ALL like this, they print the discs ahead of the beta's usually and add last minute patches to fix bugs before servers go live, and also they keep patching because there is no way to test a game for hundereds of thousands of ppl logging in at once playing. I'd be worried if there was no patch because that would mean they arent actively fixing problems.

Why wasn't the game download just updated to include the patch? Why make me wait again? Especially when the PSN servers are much faster than Defiance's.

Because the game is on the store that is it. If they were to push the patches into a bundle on the store it would have had to go through all of Sony's hoops to get clearance. Which in turn would have pushed the games arrival on the store back.

    It's a server based game.

Just like DC universe online its gonna have patches after the disc copy was made. Also The beta was played so close to release they had to fix simple stuff asap to prepare for more than expected users.
