My number one problem with the most vocal MMO'ers is that they all have one thing in common :

Buy game on day of release, apparently have no job or took annual leave. Likely have no dependants. Play game solid for 4 days and finish all content.

By Day 5 go onto official forums and moan about a lack of content and claim that it should be possible to finish it all in 5 days....fail to point out that was 5 consecutive days straight only stopping for the odd wee and bag of hog lumps washed down with Red Bull.

Watching Inception must have been upsetting for you given the ending?
Shame you had to go the insult route now, seemed like a constructive disagreement at first. Who is really 12 here?

Your argument would have some merit if all the quests were as you described, but even as soon as some of the earliest side quests in the game start with talk of encrypted data that you need to find (insinuating you are going to learn something important), which ultimately ends in absolutely nothing as far as explanation goes. Or you go to find this important missing scientist because they have some major knowledge, insinuating again you may learn something really important and interesting in this STORY driven game. And of course, nada, since the quest just instant ends when you do your final action. And those are just a few examples to a lot of the sidequests in the game.

Maybe you don't care, and based on your posts it sounds like you're in it for the action. And if that's so then that's fine. But don't blame the people who came to this game wanting story in a game based on the premise of tying into a tv show and having a major story to WANT story.

You're missing the point with those quests. You aren't the person using the knowledge. You're getting paid to acquire it.

When it comes to encrypted data and a missing scientist's life work, the higher ups generally don't want the hired guns to know what they're paying you to let them know.

Actually I wasn't insulting you just pointing out you were perhaps being a little "needy".

Firstly the STORY and TV missions are the ones that give you the closure you seek, side quests are nothing more then little jobs to earn keys and bounty. You can also explorer and search out data pads which add insight into the overall story arc.

I think your problem is this is not the game you want it to be but rather the game it was supposed to be.

I've certainly read / heard enough in the game to keep me "in the world" as well as excited for the TV Show.

Really? Nice generalization going on here.

Sorry to burst Your bubble my friend. But fact is! That most MMO's that launched (even recently like TSW and GW2) had way more content and features than Defiance and at least kept my interest Beyond the first month!

We can jump the WoW hate wagon and piss and moan on that game, but fact is that WoW had a huge amount of content at release and even kept most of the hardcore gamers entertained for several months!
When I managed to overcome the cartoonish theme, I actually enjoyed the game a lot and played it for 2 years straight until a month after TBC expac release.

Same With EverQuest 2! I have played that game on and off for over 6 years and enjoyed the heck of it. Especially because of the Nice and more mature community! Same With LOTRO! Played that on and off since launch until last year for over 5 years!

The Secret World. Bought the game at launch. Still paying a sub, playing on and off and still having a blast and not seen all the content yet.

Defiance? I am one week in, only played about 3 hours a day (weekdays) / 4-5 hours a day (weekend) and I am almost finished With the main story, finished the Episode missions. Before Next weekend I will done With the story and the side missions and that was it!
All we will have left will be grinding reputation for useless mods. Grind EGO for..... god knows what? as weapon itemization is a joke. Still using green and blue weapons from early game that are better than all the so called high EGO rating blue and Purple junk I have been vendoring away!

PVP is a shambles! An utter joke.
Arkfalls are copy pasta from RIFT and boring as hell. As giving Crystals and mobs insane amounts of Health isn't fun and turns it into a borefest sooner than later.

Fact is, that even a casual gamer will have seen all this game has to offer within a week or Two / Three.

People are extremely naive if they are thinking that the TV show is magically going to fix all the issues this game currently has!

Firstly it isn't really a generalisation if I said "My number one problem with the most vocal MMO'ers is that they all have one thing in common"

Secondly you just came on and proved me right lol

Joking aside, seriously mate MMO's, all MMO's have been the victim of their own invention. Hell even normal games have started to become victims of "length".

I wish I had the free time you do but sadly work, the wife, the kids all demand my time so for me this is perfect. No sub and endless content.

Surely given how many MMO's you have played you know most if not all start with bumps in the road? At least you can sell your disc and come back at a later date if you wish.

You must have other games you can play?

Why don't you moaners reach EGO 5000 before coming on the forums and hurf derping like cry babies. You can always goto rapestop and trade your game in (that's if you didn't buy it for the pc)

    Awesome mounts?? Shiny armor/weapons??
Let me say something, this is NOT fantasy/medieval MMORPG, its post-apocalyptic MMOTPS, so...no magic, no shiny armors and no tigers as mount, when i preordered the game I knew what this game was about.

Yes, because killing 20 mobs in TERA and turning that in was awesome... or the 15 I had to do for the daily in Aion to get the platinum coin armor, or even the kill X number quests in Rift... etc. etc.

They can always add more content, the real problem for some is the lack of decent progression, dull perks and useless 'high-level' loot. But I'm sure this will be reflected when no one is using the cash shop in order to purchase their lock boxes.
