But you can't deny the travel speeds add to the size overall. Was Warcraft really that big when it launched eons ago? Let's scrap the 4 full expansions for a minute. Bigger than Defiance, sure, but Defiance wants to start chucking out DLC in a matter of 1 month. Keep in mind, Defiance is on console as well as PC. They probably took a safe approach in order to test out what the different platforms could handle. Once they get the core game all patched up, they can look to increase the size.

I agree. The game has only been available for less than a week, (as of this typing) so I plan on giving it a chance.
Damn the torpedoes! Ahead Warp Factor Nine!

I hear about a lack of content, I hear about a lack of end game, I hear about a repetitive tasks, that the game cost too much.

I have heard the same complaints about every other MMO game to date. And honestly in some cases the first three are true for certain people. Those 'hardcore' guys that want to max out everything and play 6~8 hours a day like it is a second job. Sure they may run out of content before others, reach the end game that hasn't been put in place yet (hello WoW at 60 and broken Raid content) but there are plenty of us still just getting the ball rolling or have limited play hours. The 'hardcore' gamers will always move on to the next thing it's what they do, but the casual guys find a place to hang for a while and move on when they're ready not when they have "Beat the game".

As far as repetitive tasks, well check that one at the door no MMO has any quest system that doesn't become repetitive. At least with Defiance we have a system that puts action in between the tasks, versus button mashing.

Now as for those that are ticked at the $60 price tag all I have to say to that is a typical MMO would give you a $60 price tag and then a subscription fee in 30 days, and every 30 days there after. With a year to two years before additional content is added of any kind, whether Expansions or just a general addition, while we will be getting material throughout the year with our a subscription or additional purchase!

You guys have to stop drawing comparisons here, this game is not like anything else ever attempted. We will be having content added throughout a season of the TV show (confirmed for Season 2 btw) and then we will have content added between seasons that may just let us alter the landscape of the world. Yes, these are not immediate tangibles but they are what this game has been planned around, not just around keeping a sub fee going with time sinks but enjoyable interactive entertainment. If you can't wrap your head around that I feel for you, but it's not the end of the world honestly as I see plenty of forum posts quite the opposite of this one, not to mention the happy players whoever never been to the forums to begin with.

This ain't your Daddy's MMO of yore anymore, this is a new world.

Yes! WoW was THAT big at launch! It had both Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms at launch. Both continents are HUGE! And still are with current day 310% flying Mounts. Which are actually even faster then the current fastest car in Defiance.

    No workshop. Tetris fails.

Hate to tell ya Snow, but that's not even close to an accurate figure. But I understand your need to make yourself seem superior over the internet. Though I do feel sorry for you.

You just have to build the workshop using the blocks.
