    It's quite functional.

The chat box...and voip...is not. But this has been addressed and is in the works of getting tweaked/fixed.
I think I've seen that word somewhere else lol

I think the politically correct term would be "accessibility". Being able to bring this game to as many people as possible will keep it alive longer.

Yes, it also means more money for the company that produces it, and yes, they could have implemented a better UI for PC and they probably will soon. It's just a matter of time. I know when I start an MMO, it's not about what I can do on day 1, it's what I'll be able to do on day 91 or day 901

A big part of investing time into a MMO for me is to try to be the best, and perhaps recognised for it. This game has a real lack of anything keeping me in, and anything to aim for. I think that's the key point I am dissapointed in - in every other mmo (almost) you will see someone with an awesome glowly item, an amazing looking mount, or something else to distinguish them. In Defiance, everything looks bland, nothing as of yet has stopped me in my tracks and thought "wow, what is that? I want one.."

Am I alone in my thinking, or does anyone else feel like the game was released way too early before they implemented key milestones.
I don't even bother upgrading my passive points, they are so marginal and dull with absolutely nothing exciting. The environment is dull and bland, for a futuristic game with bugs roaming around the technology is bland and the atmosphere is bland. Take a look at Anarchy Online where you have amazing structures, flying cars, things that make you go Wow.

Overall, I really wanted to enjoy Defiance but sadly if i'm being realistic I don't think i'll play much longer.

Thanks for reading, your thoughts are encouraged
You are not alone. I do regret buying this game. Im more excited for the show to be honest. I got this game because most of my friends from DCUO wanted to try it and i regret it so much lol. I could gotten another game. This game had potential.

I like it, and the sandbox capabilities it has I think will trump everything else if Trion markets and exposes it the right way.

They have the standard MMO crowd with Rift, which is great, they're winning scores of new fans with Defiance, regardless of the ranting going on in this forum, Warface looks like another huge Win for them, those of us that beta'd End of Nation...zomg...can't wait.

Trion is proving to be a bit of a publishing/developing power house. If a company can help ArcheAge succeed here, I believe they can.

I can't see EA or Activision trying to release ArcheAge.
I'm not saying the art style of ArcheAge is "bad." I'm just saying it's unlikely any of the niche titles you've mentioned will surpass Rift in success. Trion's building itself as an "indie" MMO publisher (as ludicrous as that sounds.) I wish them all the best, and I'm rooting for them.

ArcheAge also has the disadvantage of having a selling point of the game being a term that only a select few are actively seeking.

I fully endorse this post. xD

Well, I wouldn't say quitting, but it has gotten kind of bland. The character advancement is incredibly shallow, I can literally tell no difference in how my guy plays from how he played 20 minutes into the game after 39 hours invested. That's pretty bad.

That said, I did have fun with this game, and it lasted me longer than single player games that cost the same money. If I feel like playing I can still do it. Overall it's not a bad game, it just doesn't really deliver on its promise much.

I feel like I'm playing Tabula Rasa all over again. Incredibly fun mechanics that would be amazing if the game itself was a little deeper. More meaningful customization, more social interaction, more difficult missions... The running and gunning is spot on, it just feels all around satisfying, but you can't make a character that's uniquely yours enough to really get invested in him, and there aren't enough shifts in the kind of activities to engage in to keep you hooked.

Going through a couple fast paced and fun fights is great, but if there is nothing else to the game it starts feeling like you're eating ten pounds of chocolate. It just stops being delicious after a while and turns into an overload. There needs to be other stuff.

First impressions where shocking to be honest, and not because of the downtime on the servers.. It was just the little things like character creation was so limited, guns where bland, and the social aspect of this game was none existent.. Strangely however I find myself enjoying this game and having a lot of fun? but I don't no why. LOL For example graphics means a great deal to me, yet Im not at all bothered by how bad this looks (on xbox360) - I even ignore the fact no one trades or there's no central town to go to.. So yeah One day I will quit but that day isn't this one.

One little snippet...you don't get Gold in pursuits, I believe your thinking of the Hotshots and Time Trials.

Pursuits are the achievement like 'quests' you do to level up your Ego and Power Rating.

Yeah, got mixed up with time trials but the same applies even more so. The pursuits are a massive case of repetition, you have fun reviving 2500 players. I've done pretty much everything that isnt 'do thousands of this one thing'. Got the final hits on the major arkfalls, got the killstreaks in pvp, got the black car for the races. Did 100% on the zones that you can get 100% in (yay missing content), basically everything that's a one off that doesnt require hours and hours of grinding (who has time for that these days?).

I agree it has more content than those traditional FPS games, but Defiance isnt a traditional fps. The problem is, those games are actually polished when it comes down to it, being an MMO Defiance cant deal with the same netcode in accuracy and data updates for clients. This definitely isnt a twitch-combaty as CoD/CS/Quake but it tries to be and fails which is why non mmo-people will play them.

One film about a Two-headed shark that gets universally panned and the cast refuses to promote later...

"Gee, it's harder than I thought."
And you know what, these films are becoming classic examples of how not to do things. Seriously, I had a friend tell me they showed her Malibu Shark Attack at University as an example of good actors being poorly directed.

I can definitely see it getting boring if they dont keep a steady stream of updates coming, but as of today and the last week in general there is something about this game that nails it for me, I cant put it down. Its kept me from finishing bioshock infinite, I just want to log in and mess around for a while every time I get some playstation time. Its one of those games where 3 hours pass so fast and I havent even managed to get around to my initial goal when I switched it on.
