I personally am an MMORPGer and, this game although its marked and sold as MMORPG It does lack some MMORPG qualitys, and here are my reasons (i know its a MMOTPSRPG). (A) Its to repetative. leveling a specific weapon type to max level im finding to be boring, its not fun just killing stuff all the time. once missions are done all you have is hotshots, arkfalls, and things to run around helping with, its all boreing after a while. you start to say oh i been here 100 times already, (to me anyways). (B) No gear progression at all. sure you get diffrent outfits to wear, but i meen come on, really thats all, no benefits to wearing an outfit asside from saying, (hey im better than you cuz i have completed all of this or that and got this saweet outfit) i get the game has no stats, but gear could improve more upon our weapons. (c) same as gear progression, there is no weapon progression. Now im not saying make all weapons over powered or anything like that, but maybe once you hit a certain ego level your progress twords getting new weapons with higher damage should come into play, not just keep picking up the same type of weapon with almost the EXACT same stats as your starting weaons. Leveling a weapon, and its weapon class is fun for so long. (D) 1000-3500xp, 100-200 scrip, random mod or weapon. Missions need to be improved upon seriously, The xp req gets to be higher as ego level gets higher, (not to bad but enough) and its just a pain in the butt to have to run around and grind all the time just to keep leveling. Might be fun for some people, but its just plain boring after a while. I got very discouraged once i found that the xp rewards and scrip rewards for missions didnt really change twords the end, just stayed the same. (E) Crafting is essential (in my book) to an MMORPG. I know this isnt your typical MMO but it needs to impliment some sort of crafting system for weapons and outfits. Anyone that says the modding system is a crafting system, has clearly never played a pay to play MMO or one that was pay to play thats gone free. (F) a bank or some kind of personal storage needs to come into play, To many things i have sold because i simply maxed it out and didnt want to use it anymore. i woulda loved to just store it for a rainy day. (G) Clans, clans are something i would hear in (and forgive me for saying this game) blops2 or some other fps like that. In an MMO they are called GUILDS, And pretty sure they always have been or to some variation of that. Last but definetly not least i feel like it should have a player auction house or somethig like that, Make the economy of the game player driven (crafting helps this as well). Ok so this obviously isnt all my thoughts and concerns with the game, Like i said i love it. It just got boring for me already is all. Completed all missions and such and done alot of the misc challanges and arkfalls, just flat bored with it atm lol. I really am not bashing the game at all, just looking twords the future in the game, and honestly if it doesnt implement something like what i said i feel like it will flop with the MMO community, and will only be left with the people who strictly play on the consols. As it being an MMO it needds to have alot more in it i feel. My number one thought on this list is the progression, and something with gear. I didnt say anything about the PvP or instances, because honestly i havent done the instances but PvP i found to be alot of fun. But all stillreally repetative. That seems to be this games main thing, rinse repeat, rinse repeat. Been there done that, im bored. moving on until new content release and thats sad seeing as this games only a week old. Just NOT alot to do in the so called MMO lol. Thank you for letting me vent about it. haha. But no seriously i don't hate the game, just has its flaws. Not talking about the glitches or bugs, because thoughs are to be expected.
The biggest wall I have ever seen... and as for your points:

    A. All MMOs become repetitive once you hit peak of the content your stuck waiting for more. Once the main mission is done there is lots of other things to do, once that's done well I guess 6 hour a day play times are not a good idea.

    B. Gear Progression in any other game is merely another method to gate content, it also serves the purpose of saying "Look I spent 15 hours camping a mob for this rare helm and this weapon took me 4 nights of raiding!" Does an outfit achieved for completing something no one else have offer the same e-peen factor? It only drops the item gate from advancing in content.

    C. Aren't weapons gear? Anyway yes the damage does not progress heavily but the perks, synergies, and modifications certainly do go up in usefulness and customization of your character. The game is not designed for vertical progression, it's designed for skill based play.

    D. As you've completed 'everything' grinding is all there is left, is that what you want? I mean it sounds like you enjoy rewards from time sinks.

    E. Crafting is a gimmick, another time sink. If DEFI was to have crafting added what would you be able to craft? The game has literally 5 item types: grenade, shield, weapon, vehicle, and modifications. Also would prefer this stay within the world view of the game so anything made would be 'hacked together' and by no means typically superior to items you find off of drops. This is a terraformed world, there aren't a slew of micro processors and such laying around or clean room to assemble radical alien technology.

    F. I don't care if we get personal banks, but some form of clan storage to share weapons and such with one another could be interesting. I mean if I don't need the weapon, why would I keep it?

    G. Seriously? Your upset with the word 'clan' over 'guild'? Think Fantasty vs Sci-Fi... bout all I can say to that.

I'm with ya. Having a blast in the game, and just got 3 other members of the house involved with Defiance. We don't play for hours on end everyday. A few hours here and there together throughout the week, as life permits.

We've been supportive of Trion since Rift. Love that game. Does Defiance have issues? Yep. But we're fine with it. They've been communicating, and we know things like Chat will be fixed. It isn't like we are paying a subscription, so we aren't worried about it. It'll be fixed, but in the meantime, we're still enjoying the heck out of ourselves in-game.

I paid $60 for a completed game. Not a work in progress that's full of bugs and problems, along side constant server problems

You must be a console player and new to MMOs. You can pedal out that statement all you like but the simply fact is that is not ever a reality with an MMO.

If this was a contained game locally to your console and for your benefit to play and it had bugs, sure that would be upsetting cause they couldn't even make it work in a contained environment. Where as an MMO relies on so many factors outside of not just your control, but in some cases Trion's (Sony and MS approval processes, Xbox live architecture, etc) that to make such a statement only shows a lack of understanding about your purchase.

P.S> I play on Xbox, but you think I'm being some PC elitist jerk-face.

well our reasons for liking MMOs are different. your reasons seem very material, kinda like a high school popularity contest! o.O i like them to play with a lot of people cooperatively mostly but i lot competative too, to become stronger(my character anyway, in RL i hit the gym), and when i make it to a high level help new people. none that is relevant to what i'm about to say but...whatever. i got this game cause i liked the concept and thought it had potential. in truth i'd predicted the game would suck in the begining and eventually become something epic! but from day one i liked the game more than i thought i would and still i think it will get better.

Welcome to MMOs. Now you know.

But to be honest, I've only seen this type of very problematic MMO launch twice. DC Universe Online (SOE) in January 2011, and Defiance (Trion) in April 2013. Both of them launched for both PC and Console.

I understand the studios want to tap into the console market for their MMOs, but . . . seriously . . . the problems it brings by including the consoles just vastly increase the game's issues.
