Nobody in particular was being quoted. It was sarcasm.

The only progression in this game is unlocking a couple perks and synergy mods. In otherwords, you can be ego 300 or 3000, the difference is nil.

It struck me that this games system is similiar to Eve's in the fact that small numbers slowly add up to have a pretty major impact. Hell just driving around on a new character feels slow compared to my 1000+.

I guess folks are just used to seeing numbers change and thus thats ingrained as the only sort of progression that matters. Obviously, +10 armor is not as good as +20 - but thats not the system here in Defiance.

Your dps isnt based purely on damage numbers - its based on falloff, accuracy, base damage, nano-element, recoil, etc. So increasing your damage output lies in making your weapon more efficient. And its much like that in the real world - a 5.56 round doesnt start doing more damage - but when you have a scope you're good with and a comfortable rifle - you can put more rounds on target and therefore inflict more damage
For the simpletons 5.56 = small 50 cal = huge you can suppress someone alot more with a 5.56mm SAW then you can with a browning .50 but yeh same idea :L

All in your imagination my son. Have you gotten better at the game than when you first started? Surely. By now have you unlocked a couple damage perks and descent mods that improve your output by 0.10? Certainly. Have you progressed beyond those two factors? No. Because perks, mods/weapon experience account for a marginal increase. They did this intentionally, so new players could fully compete with experienced players, both in pve and pvp. Hate to burst your bubble, you haven't gotten more powerful, just more experienced.

That 0.10 on a bolt action sniper rifle roughly equates to 30% of your base weapon damage on each crit... Just saying.

Math. Separating the leet from the bads since *checks wikipedia* 287BC.

Seriously though. Incremental increases do make a difference. And so do mods and nanos. If someone tries to tell me that there is no progression in a game where I can jack up my AR by 3 rounds per burst with a simple mod, then they are high.

On one side, I hear people crying about how without their version of progression and bigger, shinier numbers over and over again, they don't *feel* like they are getting any better. Talk about WoW-Baby syndrome. Different games are different.

On the other side, I hear people crying about how PVP in imba, because older players with better guns/perks/strategy can take them out effortlessly, and how it *feels* like they don't have a chance against other players with access to the same options. It's not about Cloak vs Blur vs Decoy (because lets face it, Overcharge is a pve perk), it's about skill vs fail.

All of this feeling and not enough thinking. As usual, noobs will find something to cry about. And as usual, they are wrong.

Why are you still around if you think the game sucks that much? You can't take it if people likes it the way it is?

Too many people want an 'in your face' progression ala more damage on weapons, whereas EGO is mostly behind the scenes, barring Overcharge, adding numbers here or there in specific circumstances.

I can't imagine how laughably easy PvE would become if weapons actually scaled with your EGO level. It would become laughably easy(ier) than it already is.
