Anybody else tired of the standard wow mmo model

been a long time since i played ultima online. Know what i loved about it was how raised your stats by what you would do in the game. Not like most games where you get points when you lvl up and put them where you want.

yea i remember spending hours in the the pit in trinsic with my katana just to get my stats for fencing up.

other thing i loved about that game was the plot was very player driven. we always made fun stuff happen rather then forcing designers to do the thinking for us.

You know I post this type of thread in just about every forums I take part in. Do it expecting to be trolled out of the water by fanbois and such. This forum community so far has been way different. People make valid points and suggestions and keep on topic of the threads. +1 to everybody on these forums.

i used to be a big player of ultima online, it was where i started. used to play on the europa server.

i suppose the problem is WoW made mmo's main stream, ie hugly profitable, so why not copy the money maker.

but then again i suppose how many different ways can you truly make an mmo, and still make it appeal to a large audience.

I am with you, I very much wished they followed the OU model.... I loved that game.

I've been playing MMO's since the days of UO and I'm getting a bit tired of the same old routine game after game. I'm still a heavy Rift player and will continue to be so but I'll definitely think twice before starting another similar MMO in the future.

That's why I'm so looking forward to Defiance, from the little I've seen of it they are trying new things which is exactly what the MMO industry needs.

Trion should be applauded for what they are doing with Defiance and not knocked if they don't do something the same way past games did.

I think things are finally changing. TSW, Defiance, Elder Scroll Online etc are quite different kind of games.

Actually quite interesting to see what kind of game Titan is, things have changed so much recently. Does Blizzard live in the future or in the past.

They have always lived in the past, but they do it sooooo well that it is hard to fault them for it. Guess we will see with their next game whether or not they are going to break the mold for once.
