Totally agree with you, and it's far to repetitive. There is literally no grind to this game either. I have no incentive to just play for exp like i do with other MMO's.
I know it's early days yet but it just feels like a single player console game.

FUUUUNNYname a game where the story is focused on someone else...and you play your life in the game...let us take alien vs predator...(true you don't have a skill tree) but the story is focused on the race you choose to play as...and what a surprise you don;t play as yourself int he game...so that is an rpg...must be it has 2 of the 3...
a better example of and rpg...x-com enemy unknown...you have skill trees in the game, the story is focused on you (the general of the base and what your decisions are) and you also don't play as yourself in real life...rpg again...
Mass effect 3...wow...another rpg...
i could go on like this even to give you some examples of pool games (like in 9ball or 8 ball)
Another one of these. Really dont feel like repeating all the usual stuff over again so I will keep it real simple. Nobody is pretending it is an MMORPG, except for those of you who dont know what a shooter is and what an RPG is. Trion has never advertised it as an MMORPG. It is an MMOTPS (Third Person Shooter). Did you also buy CoD or Halo and rage about it not having RPG features?
"Why it is an RPG?:"
- It has a skill tree.
- It has a story focused on the player.
- You play the role of someone, which you are clearly not in REAL LIFE.
I don't know - I'm not a plumber with a huge mustache but I used to rock Super Mario pretty hard back in the day. Other than a skill tree - it hit 2 of the 3 listed above.
So here's the thing - it's not a mmorpg. They never said that it would be. It's a MMOTPS. In fact it is even describe as "multi-platform massive online shooter video game" on the site. The MMO part are things like arkfalls which are massive multiplayer events.
The question you have to ask yourself is "are you having fun?". If so, then just enjoy what it is and don't lement what you want it to be. If not, then shelf it and come back later if you want to. People seem to get so wrapped up in what a game should be when essentially it is what it is. Either play it or don't. It's not like it takes half of your money/stuff if you ditch it.

Seriously, I addressed the comments before about what I said. What makes an RPG is the degree of customization you have, and you have that here. Hell, I even already made the point of Mass Effect.
Also, note how I said, "It has a story focused on the player." That is the player. The character the player creates and modifies to their tastes. Duke Nukem and Call of Duty's heroes have been linear characters with very little player-driven development that go through entirely scripted scenarios. The story isn't focused on you, as the player. It's focused on Duke Nukem or Lt. Flaming Pants.
Don't worry, next time I'll write the 3 page essay on what I meant and an interpretation of the interpretation.
Are you sure? Because I'm sure most players would be more inclined to return to rep vendors or places like Iron Demon Ranch for mods. I think the game definitely has that to some degree, but it's not Atlas Park or Stormwind by any means. And as I said, I think there would be a player meeting ground, if not for the fact that chat is practically useless and clearly social aspects of the game were fairly neglected.
What? With few exceptions, you can have a full party run through the game together and do all the content(assuming you're on the same mission story wise), including the episode missions. The only things you can't do as a group are the solo instances.
I saw the whine and then stopped reading.
The only thing that I dislike about this game so far (and not even a huge dislike) is that I can't group in story missions. I am playing with my GF's son, so it often means I have to do the missions twice. Other than that the game is fun, it's not super serious, it's something I can pick up and play for a bit and put down without feeling like I'm never getting anywhere.
