Not sure if its me or the game, but when doing the races with the hannibal, if feels like its so friggen hard to steer or turn. But I still managed to get silver and gold after a few tries so its not hard. Though spending 3-5 minutes racing does seem too much for me lol.
I just pre-ordered so I didn't have to bother with the racing to get the car lol.
Item Malls are only disliked by the unemployed.
Lucid - the pre-order is the red colored Challenger. Thru the pursuits you get a black one.
As for the OP saying the races are hard - some of them are. Especially for those that started the game using the red challenger or blue-camo truck. Those level up your Roller stats and not your Runner stats meaning the quad you are given to use in the time trials is only Level 1. You have no bonus stats to help you. That is why until after I got the black challenger - I used a runner to go everywhere and do everything in just to level it up so I could more easily beat those races. So! If you have having problems with the races - work on leveling up your Runner skill first.
For reference, I am at 13 runners and just started San Francisco last night.
I thought the racing missions were too hard at first too. Getting silver isn't too hard, but gold is more challenging. Make sure that you are using a quad to get around to level up the skill. Though I do enjoy my pre-order cars, you have to raise your skills in quads in order to complete these races easier. I know the skill isn't called quad, but I can't remember the proper name at the moment.
I was doing well in the time trials, and had gold on the 5 I had attempted, but followed someones tip to rebind boost to RMB - makes it soo much easier to have boost on nearly all the time (when you have any).
The first couple of time trials posed a really good challenge - took me quite a few attempts to get that gold challenge time. I went back to it later once my runner skill had increased 6 levels and I could break the target times with ease. In later zones the races are much longer and can have more than one lap, but the target times are quite generous - they let you make the occasional mistake - hitting a tree / rock / bouncing off a hellbug egg, and still get round in time.
I think that's "runner" :3 . Btw...yeah at first the races may be a little difficult. Expecially if one's not accustomed to the default keys (boost on LShift? roll on ALT? D: zomg). I totally agree on the quad being the best vehicle for the races(i forgot..sorry for my bad english, it's not my native language) well...see ya on the roads, guys

Honestly the Black Challenger is just a re-skin, if they made races easy the whole point of aquiring one would be completly lost.
If you didn't get the pre-order challenger, go grab a Orange Hemi from the Hidden merchant near Muir
Naw. The only annoying part is if the race course happens to go through a major arkfall and bugs block you. xD
