Now see.. I had a LOT of hope for some of the current consoles.. especially PS3. I think for me however, the big crux that kept me from spending that chunk of change for the top of the line version: no backwards compatibility. So In other words, I'd have to have my ps, ps2, AND ps3 consoles to play all my games from the start to current. Makes absolutely NO SENSE to me why they couldn't add it other than wanting more money from the player base (which current consoles junkies gladly hand over with the glorious look of total pre-teen delight on their faces - yes.. I've worked retail.. and yes.. I've seen it first hand).
Now.. even with PS4 coming out sometime in the next year.. sure the bits and bobs under the hood are going to be far and away better than the PS2 or PS3.. but still, it's already been announced that there's not going to be any backwards compat.. so for me, that's the killer right there. I'm an adult, I don't need a living room filled with toys when my friends come visiting for an evening of wine and laughter.
