Why do you want a steam key? You do know there is nothing different between having it directly through the main client and loading up through Steam.
You are able to use your steam wallet funds to buy bits from the cash shop

I would really recommend you wait. Right now the things are there are very pointless and any xp boost or scip boost is not needed.
However to answer your question, once the cdkey has been applied to your account it's not possible to get transferred over to a Steam version. This was the reason that Trion posted within their purchase page, that there was 2 vendors for the client.
Ah, it was a gift I did not have a choice in the matter. Maybe some day they will change their policy then. Thanks for the info.
just add the launcger to steam non-steam games you SHOULD get the overlay
