How did you defeat the large bot on the bridge?
Did you have to be a certain Ego rating to do so? ...and what rating?

you have to do the story missions to get across the bridge doesnt matter the ego rating

The Monolith is destroyed in story missions, alternatively (I don't know if this is supposed to work, but) You can teleport to a friend who is in San-fran whenever you want with the go-to option.

I'm pretty sure every single Defiance player has tried to do that. Instant death!

When I first started, I was with two of my buddies from college. I said "LETS GO TO SAN FRAN I DON'T CARE". Didn't expect there to be a giant robot there, but we didn't care about that either. So in we went, 4-wheelers growling...
And then flaming, and exploding, and all of us died.
Yep... Good times.

I got there last night....getting there is fairly easy but it takes some effort to adjust to being there,because its not unfair but the difficulty spikes a bit as the enemies are tougher,more plenitiful,use different tactics etc compared to the first areas.make sure you have a decent gun and you should be fine-i fully modded a decent green rarity gun and made different builds to suit the different types of encounters and besides getting swarmed at times im coasting even though i tend to solo alot when it comes to my own progression ( i only group up when im with my clan or helping people get past a quest .

thanks. i stopped doing story to explore, I'll go back to it, looking for a trolly ride in San Fran....lol
