This is not the same genre of games. Yes it is massively multiplayer. But it is a third person shooter. If we are going to compare this to anything lets compare it to APB. To me this game is closer to APB than any other game.

I enjoyed APB. In fact I loved APB...But I take games for what they are, not what they couldve been. That being said, As much as I loved APB, Defiance is the MMOTPS that blows it out the water.

Dont forget APB had some of the best character customization in the history of online games.

Atleast APB had a decent chat system. This feels like a singleplayer game if anything. Without any communication this game suffers badly.

If this was more like World of Warcraft-

We'd be constantly micro managing our inventory. Pass.
We'd be stuck with the slowest leveling possible on console. Pass!
We'd be grinding out XP by killing masses of Skitterbugs so we can level up enough to defeat the missions. Pass!!!!

If I wanted that kind of grind fest, I'd play World of Warcraft. I LOVE that Defiance is NOT World of Warcraft.

Call it whatever you will, but this is the definition of a role playing game.

Regardless of what you want to call it, this video game should be held to the same standards that you would expect out of any video game. The people I see complaining are worried about content quality, AI/environment glitches, and an unimaginative progression system. Take a step back and think about why these problems should be excluded from game design just "because it's not an mmorpg."

You're trying to exempt this game from any fault by trying to classify it as something without these standards.

Hmm...Im definitely not saying the game is perfect...It has many issues, including a very bad chat system. The interface for modding weapons is also a disaster. But Defiance, in its current state, is something very special to build on. Its an AMAZING start for a long lasting online game.

But yeah, lets stay on topic. This is not an mmorpg. People need to stop comparing it as if it is.
