    Over the years peopls have become dyslexic.
    They have swapped the meaning of MMORPG to:
    MMO = RPG
    RPG = MMO
    Thus, any time they see "MMO" they think of all the RPG elements of mmorpgs they have played, an not JUST the MMO parts.

    All MMO means is Multiplayer... on a massive level.

    Regardless of what you want to call it, this video game should be held to the same standards that you would expect out of any video game. The people I see complaining are worried about content quality, AI/environment glitches, and an unimaginative progression system. Take a step back and think about why these problems should be excluded from game design just "because it's not an mmorpg."

    You're trying to compensate for poor quality by suggesting these faults are intentional, or at the very least, that the effect on the target audience is.
    Poor Quality? There are very few issues I have with the quality of the game. It's one of the most polished and smooth launches I have seen in online gaming. The only other game that came close was Rift, another Trion game.

    And sorry...to me, not having an auction house in a third person shooter is not a "fault". Not having "raids" in a third person shooter is not a "fault". It is what it is. This is NOT World of Warcraft. And although you so properly defined "RPG" for us...It's still not a traditional RPG that we have all come to know and understand. If you dont understand that then oh well.

    Its nice to know there's still some intelligence in the area.

    You're trying to exempt this game from any fault by trying to classify it as something without these standards.
    There are a fair amount of people that are comparing this to other MMORPG's as if it were one itself. It is not, and that is his point. Also, that is a very broad term for RPG, and most games you could name probably fall into it in one way or another. If I had to make a comparison for this game, it'd be Borderlands/2 or Dead Space 3 sans horror and QTEs, not RIFT or WoW.

    This game is a cross between Borderlands and APB. NONE of which are even remotely close to ANY of the mmorpg's out there.

    So by that logic - Mario Bros is an RPG
    You assume the role of Mario in the fiction setting of the Mushroom Kingdom. As a player, you are responsible for acting out the role of Mario, who is the hero, trying to rescue the princess. You must make decisions about which levels to tread through first on your quest to rescue her. While adventuring, you find an assortment of powerups that you can chose to equip to make your battles against the evil Goombas, Bob-ombs, and Koopa Troopas.

    Sounds rather ridiculous actually. Probably why wiki isnt used as a valid source to back up anything important. In this case, "RPG" was given a very generic, and limited definition by some random person on the internet.

    A shooter, with a story, is not an RPG.
    No more than Mario Bros is.

    evidence of RPG:
    1. Leveling, & weapons requiring a certain level
    2. quests
    3. Player versus Environment
    4. Ark Falls = Raids
    5. Weapon socketing & mod embedding
    6. Elemental damage & status effects
    7. Vehicles = mounts

    #1, 2 & 3 are a must for any RPG by definition. I dare you to show me an RPG without those 3 things !

    This is an argument of semantics; Regardless of what this game is, or is not labeled as, it shouldn't be held to any lower standards than other video games.

    On my first night logging into the game, I experienced 5 bugs before I decided to log out, ranging from disappearing vehicles, to inability to activate mission items, to being unable to exit the perk selection screen without placing a point first (arguably just poor design). On my second day playing, I experienced up to an additional 5 more basic game faults, only to be surpassed by the sudden realization that this game lacks, in all entirety, the gear progression that made borderlands (and any other video game, for that matter) enjoyable. Even now, a week later, I'm still confronted with basic game flaws such as extra time being added to the pursuit races.

    Understandably, nearly every online video game has these issues at launch, but when you hear people complaining about basic design issues, don't automatically attribute them to being there "because it's a different genre".

    On that note, and I say this with the utmost sincerity, could you name one other game that has a linear progression system in which the difference in play time results in a negligible 10%-20% damage differential? Even if you take a look at first person shooters, you'll see that many weapons, utility items and "abilities" are granted as a form of progression.
