WOW is and always will be a horrible game. Why? Because it's built around time consumption and addiction rather than fun.

Defiance feels like it is built around pure fun. There are so many little things in Defiance that make it more fun than games like WOW. Like teleporting right beside your friend wherever he is. Yay i dont have to spend 20 minutes travelling to my friend!

Defiance is great how it is and does NOT need to be more like lolWorldof****craft or any other mmorpg's for that matter. Its about fun, not time consumption and grind.

+1 So true, it is good that it is a shooter. Shooter means skill comes into it, some people have it, some people don't, watch the movie in my signature, that shows that even the gun most people forget about in this game "pistols" has some use, just need's abit ot skill and tactics to use right. Twitch Skill all the way.

Smart thinking to put that in with a sniper pursuit IMO, weapons work well together after you gain some experience. After you become a headshot/weakspot ***** your never going to go back. Take pride in what you do, having a full auto weapon is just too easy sometimes.

Defiance is not an "MMORPG" its an MMO "SHOOTER" or "TPS" which include RPG features. Now what if my car got a huge Ferrari spoiler... do you think that it will transform it into a Ferrari? (because I dont own a Ferrari!!!) Definitly no... So the RPG features included in Defiance dont makes it more a RPG than my car is a Ferrari!

Those of you who have never played a MMO-Shooter NON-RPG, go try out Sony's Planetside.
almost no Quests or PVE...
just traveling & shooting.

its is infact an RPG due to the RPG aspects (your playing as an arkhunter coming to the bay to assist Van Bach in his research/finding ark tech.) if anything its an MMOTPS RPG or somthing along those lines. thoguh you are right. its not liek wow and it shouldnt be. its a console port game which is rather well made. ofcoase lacking in some areas but thats why they have the suggestions forum.. all games "Lack" somthing.. people jsut need to cool down

People need to quit insisting this game needs to be more like World of Warcraft.

This is not the same genre of games. Yes it is massively multiplayer. But it is a third person shooter. If we are going to compare this to anything lets compare it to APB. To me this game is closer to APB than any other game.

MMOTPS....not MMORPG. Get it right. Its like me saying NBA2k13 needs to be more like Halo 4

If anything...Defiance is the greatest MMOTPS game ever made. Who can compete? APB? Psh...

They are not mutually exclusive. Also just because something is an MMORPG does not mean it has to be a wow-clone but they are the same genre regardless.

you can apply what i've said to planetside 2 too for exemple (didnt have the chance to play the first one), there is maybe no quests but there is a progression based on the class you choose to play.

Who cares whether it's a mmotps, mmorpg or an abcde. If you don't like the game don't play, simple, no? I'm not a fan of lots of games, so I don't play and certainly don't spend my time bemoaning about what the game could be if it was only exactly what I wanted.

Why do people resort to blind fanboyism when faced with criticism? Saying oh its not this type of game or that type of game is an incredibly short sighted answer. They put these features into the game. They advertised these features. They are completely tacked on. Why defend that?

You guys don't have a personal stake in the company. You don't have to pretend everything is perfect. In fact doing so is the worst thing you can do as a caring customer.

I LOVE how everyone is ignoring Ne0, who is pointing out how this game IS in fact an MMORPG! Almost any game that has a leveling up system is an rpg. I agree completely with Ne0 on this, DEFIANCE is an MMORPG. JUST because the game isnt swords, shields, and magic, doesnt mean its not an RPG. Do you play with tons of people? Yes: MMO/ Do you level up? Yes:RPG Why dont we ask the DEVS what they think? I bet you that theyll agree that DEFIANCE is in fact an MMORPG. Stop being so friggen stubborn and accept that its an MMORPG.

The Devs have never said this game was an MMORPG, they specifically said it was an MMOTPS.
