    Network Troubleshooting

    tl;dr: I used to be able to play, then the servers had issues. Servers have been tended too and my friends are currently playing. Why am I still timing out on connecting to the server?

    I bought the game, downloaded it, and played a couple days ago. Servers then started having issues and I wasn't able to play along with many other people. The rolled back the servers and said they patched some things (even though the game's build number is still 450399 since I bought it) and many people were able to play again. The servers were having issues again, and they did the same thing and mentioned they patched OTHER things (and the build version is STILL 450399). Maybe I just have a misconception about the build version and changes made to the game, but that's something (hopefully) completely unrelated to the issue I'm having.

    When I launch the launcher, the game doesn't say there is a patch or anything and loads up just fine. I launch the game and everything is fine since it plays me the Trion Worlds intro and the dumb Defiance intro which could have been better and then it gets to the (horribly illogical) loading screen with the bridge and says it's connecting to the servers. After about 10-15s or so, it says that the Defiance servers are unavailable and asks if I want to try again or quit the game. Naturally I click Try Again and another error pops up saying my connection to the servers has timed out, and attempts to reconnect after i click Okay. This process loops continuously for ages, and I'm unable to play the game like I was used to.

    I run the game though Steam.

    What I've tried:
    1. Restarting the client, and the launcher.
    2. Restarting my computer.
    3. Allowing the game through my firewall and anti-virus.
    4. Turning off my firewall and anti-virus.
    5. Running the launcher as admin.
    6. Running Steam and the launcher as admin.
    7. Browsed the forums.

    This isn't a thread claiming that the servers are **** and blah blah blah, because it's obviously something that's happening between me and the server, and not the server itself (I assume). I use my college's internet (which I've registered my computer through to allow access) and that's about the only thing that could be stopping me. But why would it do that now, after I've already logged ~30hrs in-game?

    So I ask of you, what the hell is going on, and how (if possible) can I fix it?

    While I mt support ticket is processing, and my Live Chat queue ticks down ever so slowly, I came upon some "fixes" on the Trion Support website and tried practically all of those. None of which have worked.

    In doing other digging around, I've discovered that my Defiance folder in my Steam directories is 10m bytes too big, and that it contains 2 extra files that my friends (who are currently playing) do not have. Also, for some mysterious reason, I do not have a Defiance folder (much less the Patcher.log file Trion Support Answers mentions) in my C:\Users\<name>\AppData\Local files.

    So I'm still at a loss for what exactly is going on, and I'm also posting up this reply to get this thread back on the first page to see if anyone else has a clue what is going on.

    In another attempt to get this thread back to the first page and a genuine curiosity; is anyone else having this particular issue?
