since it isnt posted... long answer:

as planned, or at least said so far is that the cash shop will have cosmetics and boosts to xp/scrip for player, group and clan, but no weapons to give any play a distinct advantage over others.

edit: also, the game isnt free to play, its buy to play. its simply an online game without a subscription after the initial purchase.

Well if you don't pay you can't play,if you can't play you can't win .

Cash-shop wise,Trion have said they won't sell disinct advantages.

stuff you buy will prolly be cosmetic and stuff like skins for vehicles or something, but not stuff that will give anyone an advantage.

xp and money bonuses are an advantage... maybe not a huge advantage (esp. in a pixel-perfect shooter), but definitely an advantage.
I totally wrote the first Defiance filk:

Also, I used to recruit for the Anarcho-Syndicalist Revolutionary Union <ASRU Ark Hunters> (on 360 NA), but no one was interested, and I don't know if I'll ever bother playing again.

Yes, but one presumes that cash-payers will be doing both.

pay to win, the most commonly accepted definition seems to be: paying cash to get items/things non paying players cannot get.

if this is what you are using as the definition, the game is not pay to win.

if however you consider pay to win to mean: paying cash to get ANY advantage over another player however small.

then yes, this game is pay to win.

but the game is a business model, without money the company cannot release new things. if everyone is not paying a subscription, then they have limited funds to pay employees to create new things. you cant have it all.

btw, i consider the first definition the real one. i played a free to play game where those who paid cash for game items had an advantage in resources they could get, weapons they could get, upgrades they could get and xp boosts and money boosts they could get. the end game was basically who could spend more money would win.
