First take a deep breath relax. This game is not built on a vertical progression so an ORANGE or Legendary weapon does not do significantly more damage that say a gun you start with. However it will have Special enhances, 1 or more Mod slots available, and possibly a specific damage effect type, where a plain gun would have none of these.
So until someone tricked it out, knew how to use it, and have the appropriate skill levels, you could kill them just as easily as anyone else.
As you use a gun it levels your Weapon skill, once the gun is maxed you have to switch to a different gun in order to continue the skill progression. However you don't have to do this, if you like the gun keep using it, remember not vertical progression so while a higher weapon skill will give you a small edge it is not the end of the world if your skill is better than the other player.
Now. Go shoot some mutants, watch out for 99er smelters, and remember Von Bach is a lovable jerk-face.
The only legendary i've gotten is grenades :/ I'm dying for an assault rifle or LMG
I bought 4 of the Tier 2 lockboxes yesterday and got 8 yellow items. Only two were worth keeping.
I still have a Tier 3 and a Tier 4 lockbox to be picked up at the store. Not sure when I'll feel like wasting them too...
oh yeh, i heard if you run around San Frans coast counter clockwise whilst t-bagging and old man appears and gives you his yellow weapon and something you need to see the doctor about

Ok, O call ******** on the 8 there, especially because you only get 2 or 3 items from the T2 LBs. That would mean 75-100% of them were legendaries. Even if I'm wrong and its 4 items thats still 50%, which is more believable but still completely absurd considering that there is only a 1%ish chance of getting a legendary. =\

Thing i noticed in other games, such as WOW the legendary weapons are the very top and they only have 1 or 2 of them and they are always top tier. However in defiance the Legendary weapons are not specifically top tier... This is due to the amount of variation you have in the weapon and the variations you need. I have gotten rid of a number of these legendary weapons since they are not what i am looking for. The Synergy and bonuses provided are what make the weapon not the color of the text, Sure the Orange ones have better potential but finding the right one is a long process
What?? Yellow items are not orange. Yellow is worth twice what white is, although I scrapped the weapons because I was shorter on scrap than script. And you get two items per Tier 2 lockbox, so 4 purchases would be 8 items.
If at least a couple of the items were purple, I'd have far far less to complain about...
