I dont get rid of my good maxed guns - hang on to them for arkfalls and nasty boss fights. In those situations, weapon XP isnt important, damage output is. Hell I have 41 inventory slots taken up just for storing various shields, grenades and a pantload of maxed/modded weapons - so I can attempt to meet any circumstance to the best of my ability.

As has been said - gear progression isnt verticle in Defiance, its horizontal - and that works just fine for the kind of game it is.

I'm not asking for a rifle to do 1k dmg cause its EGO is 1000. Just a slight upscale in dmg is what I'm talking about. Like maybe a 10% increase in base dmg. But at the same time I can see and understand why the current setup is the way it is

I'm sat at about EGO 500 and I haven't changed my shield since I started simply because I just keep getting worse shields. I should be striving to get the next best shield but it isn't going to happen. With guns you are left adding 4 mods, maxing it out level wise then you just have to get rid of it. At level 60 I am getting the same guns as I am now with no difference to any of the stats. Whats more of a joke is the fact that I can have a Purple version of a White Weapon and it somehow is WORSE lol.
I totally agree with you on this. I also have got many white weapons that are better that the purples. The set up needs to change there

You can max out and equip weapons with the best mods - the problem is - if they are maxed out you dont get any skill progression and the "good" guns turn into useless rubish. You are forced to use new guns all the time - which wastes the effort you put into finding good things. And if you dont care about your skill progression you will NEVER EVER max out your damage output.

    Fail design.

Just keep your favourites and use them in PvP/special situations, and switch out during down-time.

It's annoying, but it's not the end of the world.

Your favorites better be shotguns then if your going to use the in PVP lol

This game is currently broken and its losing players fast. Drastic changes need to happen fast or Defiance will not last long. Its only been a week and people are already starting to leave (myself included)

Plus, on the side of realism (I know, I know, this game isnt realistic, but hear me out) - nothing makes a bullet 'do more damage' - a bullet does what it does, it flies fast and makes holes in things. Bigger the caliber, bigger the hole - thus the various weapon types. Aside from changing to a different weapon, the only way to cause more damage with the same weapon is to make sure more rounds land where you want them to. Preferrably on a nice shiny critical location =)
To counter that last "realism" point, there are things that you can do to make a bullet of a certain side do different kinds of damage, i.e. hollow points, full metal jackets, black rhinos, etc. The shape, density, and metal type of the bullet can alter it's damage output in real life. On top of that the muzzle velocity, rotations per inch in barrel, and powder of the round can affect how much damage the bullet can do. Now with that said I do understand what you are trying to say, to put the physics required into a game to account for all of that is intense and I have not seen a game do it successfully, yet. So let's for the sake of the game guess that all of the bullets shot by said weapon type are pretty much the same.

Mavor, this was an excellent post though, and has good info. I think the reason this is up is more for newcomers as opposed to those of us that have made it to SF (you should know by then).

The game itself is most definately NOT broken. While there ARE things that are broken in the game, this is not one of them. You just don't agree with how its implemented. You've paid for the game and theres no sub so Im not sure what threatening to leave does? But since you are so sure your leaving and I will be sticking around for quite some time....can I have your stuff?

    Completely agree.
Saving salvage for slots means jack ****to me when I'm sitting on over 100k with no effort, and and I'm sure others have more than that.
