When I purchase a single player game, yeah I expect it to work when I buy it. Purchase an MMO and be prepared to have a rough launch, lots of patching, and issues to arise.

    Want examples?

Purchased Ultima Online, Everquest, World of Warcraft, Everquest 2, Star Wars Galaxies, Earth and Beyond, Anarchy Online, Guild Wars, DCUO, Star Wars The Old Republic, Lord of the Rings Online, City of Heroes, Aion, Final Fantasy XI, Age of Conan, Warhammer Online, Star Trek Online, Rift, Dark Age of Camelot, Vanguard, Shadowbane, and many, many, more. I spent anywhere from $50 for standard editions and up to $150 for CEs and I can say that I have yet to see a perfect release of an MMO.

MMOs are ever changing worlds, with thousands of people playing them at once and at the same time. Not every single aspect of the game can be tested in alphas or betas, there is no way to catch every single bug, or every issue that may arise due to a players connection, system specs, etc. before a game releases. That is why developers have a dedicated team always working on the game so these issues can be fixed as quickly as possible. This dedicated team will also be the ones to make sure that new content gets delivered in a timely manner and fixes any issues that may arise when it does. This is the first MMO to come out on all 3 platforms at the same time. There are going to be different issues on each platform and there are going to be issues that hit all three.

Be patient and let Trion get the critical issues fixed! If you are not used to playing an MMO or a game on the scale of Defiance, than give it a few months and revisit your complaints later. If you aren't happy with the fixes or the game, than leave and don't look back. You aren't hurting anyone by coming on to the forums posting about how much you hate the game or are disappointed in what you got at release.

For every person that quits, another one is just buying the game because their friends are telling them how awesome this game is. You can't deny the fact that this game is only going to cost $60 (standard edition) and you never have to pay another dime for it, if you choose not to. You will always be able to get to the new areas and play with friends, unlike a few shooters I know that you can only play the new areas/maps with your friends if you buy them too.

Why do you need to post on a forum to decide if you want to get your money back? If the game doesn't work like you expected and you are too impatient to wait for patches go return it. Don't come here looking for attention.

well the 100k was just a figure...never ment that as thats how many ppl were on...but just because theres not 100's of ppl at an arkfall dont mean there not there playing on the server...i still just say to wait...if your friends dont want to wait then let them know what they are missing out on once its fixed...i would say less then a month and this game will be 100 times better as of bugs.

I honestly think that people need to wait until the show starts. The only problem with this game/show idea is that people cant seem to grasp the concept that the game will get more content, or at least it should get more content, as the show progresses.

Its the developers that are impatient. They need to polish their product before release and not rush things out the door. Its funny how accustom people have come to unfinished products being released, its the people who dont complain that are ruining it for the rest of us.

You really don't get the difference between an mmo and a normal game do you? If you want to complain about games being released half finished i suggest you play Blops2, that crap still isn't fixed.
As far as mmo's go this hasn't been a bad launch at all to be honest.

I have seen broken games and invested plenty of money in them hoping they would get better. (Anyone who has played Dynasty Warriors Online would know what I am talking about) In mmo's things take a lil time and require patience. I understand your frustration, but as it was stated before, some issues can't be accounted for during beta testing. This is due to the content that might not be there to create the bug or other things that unless you are a programmer and have looked at the code you cannot explain. The game for the most part is whole and playable, so enjoy the features you can now and when they fix everything enjoy the features you couldn't previously enjoy. So far I have only experienced minor lag and this weird bug that makes it to where the game doesn't recognize I am at my current ego lever of 260-something. Overall I am loving the game and the story line. If you are a first time MMO player then just relax it will work itself out. I am guessing that everyone on here has at least played some type of online game be it Black Ops or Mortal Kombat or whatever, if you paid attention, not all server launches are perfect. Some work perfectly, some do not. It happens, you just have to go with it. Enjoy playing everyone. I hope to see you in game.
