Ontop of that, yes when i post i feel i do make a difference. Sure the games "constantly evolving" but its online only. How long will these servers hold, if at all stay active? Why not make it a offline based gameplay as well, with patch implemented so that users dont get shafted when servers go down for maintenance*? Switch it around so that it doesn't hamper peoples efforts to play a game in their freetime (and when the only free time they have tends to revolve around when their doing server maintenance) then their just basically screwed.
World of warcraft, ever quest 1 &2, DCUO, Anarchy online, Guild wars, war hammer online, are a few i noticed you mention. From my experience, during their launch it wasn't as horribly rocky as Defiance on launch day. Yes their were issues with getting the product out the door, and onto the shelves, alongside the server load was on a constant high, but their systems were up 24/7, and they were able to pipe out downloads, alongside enable people to play. They, "They" being the companies behind the few games i have mentioned didnt have hours apon hours of server maintenance.
This is the digital age, alota content is becoming more so digital and less so reliant on actual physical means (ex: Discs, etc...)
But at the same time i buy a game i expect it to be functional around the times im playing. Sure ill give defiance this much, its a fun game, but with its heavy instability, its ability to invoke red ring of death on xbox 360 (causing damage/harm to the console itself), alongside causing ps3 freezeups (code issues, not always related to over-heat), and pc over heat (over heats more often than usual(?), alongside causing tons of errors to pop up in the error console (on the pc side, assuming you run pc in debug mode under windows, or pay attention to the logs) on the windows os* you can see the damage it does (slightly) alongside how unstable it is (and how it causes processes to trip up). this leads to the file system and data saves/installs to lead to corruption after so many freezeups, where it will damage the data. Alas, the company doesn't take responsibility for those who were affected by what i mention, they just do what they can now. Im here to remind the community,
It takes tons of patience for a game to get better like this one. Dont waste your money on a semi functional game, until its actually functional, hold off on buying the game, if anything play using a friends disc, or on their console/pc. Get a rough idea if its worth the expense. Then let them judge, because as far as i've seen, i've paid $180+ on all 3 platform titles (ps3, xbox 360, and pc), and i didnt get anywhere near the worth of the "fun" value of the game. Ontop of that it was marketed in a limited testing area, and they used that to show how "epic it is" not really showing those who did pre-order, or those who are not PS+, xbox subscribers, or pc users what they would be getting into.
Ontop of that yes i can deny the fact, but i cannot justify the expense, if you pay for something thats broken, why pay at all? Sure the dev teams working on it, but how many hours, how much of my life, if at all any (or anyones actually) must we waste, and play the waiting game for the game to come back online, and become functional?
This is but one of many irks, and it shouldnt of been a released game if its unstable on this magnitude. Heck i've yet to see any pre-order content i've gotten on any 3 platforms (ps3, 360, or pc) interesting ehh? How long has it been since launch? 8 days, and 2hrs+ and counting, i've yet to see resolution (not on my end and im pretty sure many others as well). DONT go giving me the excuse the devs are doing their best, I KNOW THEY ARE, but its not good enough, its how many days and i alongside many others have yet to get pre-order, or ordered content. So of course ill be royally pissed*
*NOTE*
Please dont forget, theirs tons of other MMO's out their, that means companies can shadow, and overlook what went wrong with those games, and do their best to prevent issues of this magnitude for this game. Why wasn't this game taking in alota things that coulda been fixed up if they woulda pooled from the collective input not just from alpha and beta testing of defiance, but also looking at other MMOs, and how they had their ups and downs? You know, learn from other companies trial and error? (No need to answer) as im pretty sure only a dev of the game can really answer that question.
Thats just on my end though, i didnt mention the others who are impatient, and wanna beable to play a game they've paid for, but have yet to remotely have their worth or fun in playing for due to time constraints and various other things that would conflict with playing the game*
After all is defined as a game, regardless of its genre, it should beable to be played, not a wait around game.
End summary... Its a one time fee, for something that is barely functional or online. Sure its in the process of being resolved, but to those who do read my posts, dont waste your money on the game.
Dont buy it, look on the forums, and look at how many are still basically left in the dark, sol, or various other things about the game, before you decide to make a risky investment which could end up being a waste of your money altogether (sure its a one time fee, but is it worth it?!).
I feel your more than justified and entitled to your opinion and hatred for the lack of support, or more so, getting what you paid for. My best suggestion, is file a complaint ticket, and see if all goes well. If not well you can always do a ACH backcharge with your bank and get your money back (even though playstation, pc, and 360) say its not able to be done, blah blah blah terms, you as a customer are still entitled to what you pay for, weather digital, or physical. If they dont provide/resolve the problem in a timely manner, then your bank can do what is called a "ACH back Charge" basically refunding you, and then listing the companies(or affiliates) who sold you the digital or physical product as a untrustable source, which if enough people do ACH back charges with their banks due to lack of support, resolution, or replacement/refund of product (digital or physical) then eventually it can stack up to a potential lawsuit. That takes time though, but im pretty sure trion will get on the ball months later after these issues are not resolved. Regardless, use the BBB, after 14-30 days of pending on a response and 0 solution/resolution (reasonable of course) is made on Trions behalf in-regards to defiance (or your ingame purchases) you should beable to get a refund.
In my case it works, Zero online, CQ, and various other MMOs that haven't provided me with a digital product (or intentionally/unintentionally) didnt respond to me or the BBB and or my bank, resulted in my complete and total refund. On the + side, you can also have the bragging rights of such issue and make sure the company is reminded of how they dont care for the consumer(s) or neglect issues*.
I recall a actual lawsuit with TQ Digital entertainment i had in-regards to lack of response (over a year+) alongside not getting digital items purchased. I quickly won back $5 grand alongside forcing the TQ Digital company to respond. Of course i spent my money else-where but i learned something great... Dont let the companies screw you over, or "hide" behind the EULA or pretend they did something when intruth they didnt (weather intentional or not).
I feel the dudes entitled to his own opinion as are you. But then again thats your opinion thinking people dont care. I guess you forget, word of mouth, and what happens (especially with proof and not smoke and mirrors) tends to pull people away from a game, alongside showing the community how "helpful" folks like yourself are.
Trolling someone, putting them down, and repetitively stating their wrong. Hey, look on the upside, i par-take your fine with a half baked game.
Let me guess your another user who is fine with buying a BRAND NEW CAR< known to have faulty AC issues, and you still regardless and oblivious to the instability of the AC, say "oh well, im still paying full price with a faulty machine". I sorta feel like that, everytime i see someone agree with the game being perfectly fine, or giving me the "just wait for it to get better" statement.
