New Races in DLC - What's the point?

At this point, I can't imagine ever creating an alt since there doesn't seem to be any difference between one character and another. No mission will change based on race or gender. No NPC reacts to you differently.

Don't get me wrong, this doesn't really bother me, but I can't see the point of creating another character of any race or gender.

Why would anyone ever want more than one character for this game?

generally when a game puts in new customizations = new votan races, u get 1 free redo on your current characters looks if you buy the DLC

will Trion do such in the DLCs? who knows but it is standard practice amongst all other gaming companies

Unless it's a race with more health or some kind of special bonus. Will probably make people want to roll a second time, if the bonus is worth it. Personally I like to play as the synthetic soldier, the Bioman.

If it just cosmetic, then I don't care. Unless they let us change race without starting over. I bought the DLC on sale for $30, hopefully it's worthed.

Most likely new races will have a new slice of ego power and perks. I can imagine indogenes getting perks for nano effects and a tech power or something.

They should have made classes with a point in the game and make certain races use certain classes. Then this would work so much better!

Yes, limit the game. That's a great way to make and RPG. "You can create your own character and interact with this awesome world we've made... but you have to follow our made up nonsense rules."

    Seriously, why? Why the hell?

If you REALLY want the new race, you can make a new character. If you don't want to make a new character but you DO want a new race, too bad? You're just choosing between not wanting to level a new character and wanting to have your preferred race. That's a choice, that is NOT their fault, that is up to you. There WILL be people who re-roll the new race out of choice, and will enjoy it, and more power to them.

Lets think about this a sec, Isnt this part of the refreshing model that is Defiance? Give the customer a new race that is excactly like the one you currently have except color, cloth, and facial features?

I think there should be differances between the races ...like aliens recharge EGO powers slightly faster while humans might have faster gernade cooldowns ...or something like that there need to be a differance to make people want to have multiple characters/races!
