LMG weapon skill will not rise any further than level 2 (and like 6 greyed out bars)

I have been trying to skill up my LMG for almost a week now and it just will not gain exp.
It has been the ONLY weapon i use during combat in quests and in ark-falls even though the yellow bar at the bottom of my screen fills up and resets i still don't get the weapon skill up.

Edit: yellow bar stopped filling up as well...

I am on PS3.
USA server
Character Name; Crystal

Weapon used is a FRC SAW level 273 (light blue letters) with all mod slots and regular mods in them. it has the fire attribute
and +2 refresh self revive on kill and +0.90 reload.

There seems to be a exp bar on the weapon in the equipping menu and it is full.

Do i need to get a new gun to continue or is it a glitch?

you need to use more than just one lmg, every weapon has an xp cap and once it is hit you won't get xp for the skill

If the weapon itself is maxed, you cant use it level the weapon skill (LMGs in this case) with it anymore.

Not sure about his but I think once an individual weapon levels up to max it will no longer raise your skill with that weapon type so you need to switch to another gun to keep gaining LMG levels.

Aww man... that sucks. but at least now i know weapon gets an ability once it is leveled up....
