Character Name - How is this "Profanity"?!?

Good old days of the cencors, I rember how long it took for me to get Microsoft to let me have the word "white" as part of my Gamertag - apparently anything with a color they assume your using it in a bad way lol

Ok, so I create my character...type in my character's name...and it says that the word "Ronin" is profanity!

Seriously Trion?!

In what way is "Ronin" (A Samuri without a Master) in any way a profane word?!?

Has anyone else run across something like this too?

My friend's gamertag is Vindicator however this is considered a profane word somehow. So he made his character name Vindication, which is just peachy as far as the game is concerned. WTF guys... come on now...

I still find it hilarious that they have filters for profanity... All while the in-game content is full of swearing AI.

This i don't understand the forums have a profanity filter we can't turn off and the same for the game yet this is an 18+ game? Im thinking something were ported over from Rift which should have been made optional or removed altogether.

Guessing like most mmos you cant have a title as a name or a npc name. Hence no Ronin, Badlands, etc

kind of stupid since there is a title called ''pale wars ronin'' so you can have it as a title but not a name wtf?

Make a real name.. So many stupid mmo character names out there.

Why?!?

A few reasons...

1) I chose to. You seem to have a bit of a Gestapo streak running through you!!

2) I like the book "The Art of War". I study martial arts. I have a very high end katana. I embrace the Samuri mindset and the history of the "Ronin" interests me.

3) I have named many of my characters in previous MMOs "Ronin"...so why not this one!

4) I tried to use that name just to piss you off!



BTW..."Ronin" is a real name genius! It's a fairly common last name!!
