As the title says, here are the best suggestions I've heard from everyone here. This list is by NO MEANS extensive and if I've missed something big tell me.
1. Hubs - Be it a central city, several towns, even bars or taverns, we the players need central locations where we can congregate to do all the other stuff that isn't shooting mutants in the face. These cities/towns/what have you would be a prime place to locate a wide variety of vendors as well as side activities, which brings us to...
2. Side Activities - The ones you can come across out in the world are nice, but these are still a rather passive way to interact with the other players. What about actual live races? Or even more simple, mundane things like gambling? Bars could have poker tables where players could queue up to gamble away their hard earned skrip. Dice, black jack, the list goes on. All of these things encourage actual player interactions. Even a physical location in the game world where players go to sign-up for the Shadow Wars would lend a sense of real interaction with the world around us. Speaking of player interaction...
3. Raids and "Dungeons" - As it stands, far too much of this game is single-player. There really is very little need or incentive to group up with other people. Providing missions that require a group to complete is sort of what makes an MMO the engaging game it is. What need is there for clans when I can blaze a trail solo with little hindrance? And hindrance is a thing a game needs because...
4. There is No Penalty for Dying - And that's a problem. Losing a minor amount of skrip and popping up again a short walk away does not give me an incentive to keep my head down when the bullets start flying. And the self-revive feature just reinforces the lone wolf mentality. What we need system that penalizes a player for dying without frustrating the player. Here is my idea. First off, get rid of the self-revive. When a player goes down he has three options. If he's with others he can wait for one of them to revive him and he pops back up ready to go with no penalty. Or, if no one is around, he can use the "auto-retrieval" system which teleports him to the nearest fast travel point (I already assume those things are teleporters anyways) and he suffers a temporary debuff due to "teleportation shock" or whatever. Or third, he can pay a fee and commission a revival drone, which the player then manually flies from the closest of several drone docks scattered across the world to his downed character where it revives him in the same manner another player would. Players not being able to instantly pop back up will create better teamwork and encourage grouping.
5. Allow Items to be Unequipped - Not being able to get rid of or even modify a gun unless you have another gun to take it's place is just bad design. Allow player to equip and unequip their items freely and then face the consequences for running around a hell bug nest without a shield. You don't need to hold our hands here. We'll figure it out on our own soon enough. A more robust selection of items in general seems to be the conscientious. Especially where armor is concerned. Personally I like being able to equip what I think looks coolest, not what has the best numbers, but allowing outfits to be modded in the same way that guns are would be a great option and give meaning to the outfits outside of simple aesthetics. But it doesn't matter how cool my character looks if you won't...
6. Give Us Full Control of Our Camera - Not being able to pan all the way around my guy is probably my number one pet peeve thus far. Why did I bother customizing his look if I'm just gonna be glued to his back the whole time? Sometimes I just wanna sit back and admire how darn cool I look but the back of my head looses its luster if that is all I'm staring at for hours on end. Solution? Holster the weapons. The button that you tap to switch your guns would also holster the currently equipped gun by holding it down. Either tap the button again or just pull the trigger to draw the weapon again. Finally...
7. Give Us Professions and Crafting - These do more than just give players more toys to mess around with (though it does that too). Professions and crafting organically invites player interaction and co-operation. And really, that is what this game is missing. For an MMO, I sure do feel alone out there.
Other great suggestions I've heard:
- Better differentiation between enemies and friendlies in Matchmaking and Shadow War. The two sides need to be visibly different colors. And get rid of the spectators, they just confuse things.
- Scale the drops with the player's EGO rating (and queue players with other players of similar EGO rating to then prevent imbalances in matchmaking).
- Larger party sizes. Group way point markers. Clan badges and emblems. Basically make grouping easy and advantageous and clans worth being in.
- More pvp modes such as capture the flag or king of the hill.
- Speech bubbles that pop up over the heads of the people talking in chat.
- Shoulder swapping so you can fire from either side, making cover much more useful, among other things.
- And of course all the cool/awesome stuff I missed but I'm sure the posts below will definitely remind me of!
