Maybe that is not the right way to describe exactly,but it feels that way.

I have seriously had NO interaction in game thus far, unless it is PVP most people just forget their mics are open, no one cares to form parties for anything. I guess you don't need to. I talked to one guy by shooting at him to grab attention and commented on his cool outfit robe/gas mask (can I count the forums for social?) The only way I even caught one persons attention was spraying my weapon at them. Kinda sad right?

Tried talking to people at arkfalls like hey not shoot little skits. Not a single reply.

Guess really the game has no need for you to talk to people. Everything is very solo-able...Or possibly obvious to a degree. There has been times where I wanted to trade,talk or had questions. Again nothing.

Even in big events I have been in so far is like just madness everywhere. I have LITERALLY went to a hellbug arkfall with bunch of players shooting hellbugs and could stand there. Just stand there and be fine. In the rare occasions I do get hit or die - Getting or asking for revives is hit or miss so far in my experiences.

I mean damn dude. I like games when being in a squad or party and interacting with people to get something done.

Just feels very pointless to talk at all in this game....Is it just me or what, does anyone else feel similar??

Once they add some other chat channels, and allow us to filter out things (such as bound to X location). That and much like many other shooters or games in general, people just don't like to talk to people they don't know or have association with previously. You can even play mmo's with refined chat systems and get to end game content without ever talking to another person (like wow). If you don't agree, go try it if you have a wow account or other mmo similar. You can start up, hit cap and start doing most things, join a guild for end game and never talk, especially if you are a dps.

The chat and social aspects of this MMO are broken/terrible. I disagree with a global chat though unless you can filter that, this game definitely needs a Region and Trade chat however. They also need a tutorial for all new console players informing them of the /tell /whisper functions or the /help command.

I agree and this has to do with how they really dropped the ball with co-op content. Arkfalls are now hit or miss as a high majority of them are empty. Other than the bland co-op maps, there's no reason to even party up. No reason to join a clan and what could have been the best feature in the game, Shadow War, is damn near impossible to enter because NOBODY plays it. They better pull a huge rabbit out their hat with this upcoming content or this game won't last a month...

Other than you being a doomsayer (I highly disagree with all the doom and gloom of "blah blah wont last a month/etc"), I agree with some of your things. Such as there is no reason to really talk to people/party at this point.

No its not really the chat system that is the problem. There is NO NEED to use it as he said so only thing you would see in a global chat is a bunch of immature people acting like idiots or fighting with eachother about stupid ****. The game does need to be change to encourage group play. Possibly add actual missions that require a group of a certain number of people to do or just something to make it so you cant just go through the entire game solo with no problems at all. Being an MMO is no good if the only reason to call it that is that you see a ton of other people running around. They might as well all be npcs

Well, since there is no official word on how or if they will improve this, we can all just hope. This game being based on consoles does not hive us much hope for such an improvement, as I don't see how console players will be able to use a proper chat. That of course does not mean there should not be any proper communication tools, but Trion, I am afraid, is making their decision on consoles primarily.
I am afraid they will not want to enrage more than half of their player base by giving PC users an option they alone can fully use.

Maybe the main developer or the woman/man behind this communication fiasco is a true proverbial "nerd from home", living in a mom's garage with the only socialization when she/he goes to the market and stands in a crowd of people not talking to anyone.
