“[Content] is relatively set now, because a lot of things have to be determined up front for creating game content or shooting a TV show,” explains Trion Worlds’ VP of development Nathan Richardsson. “Tie-ins with the TV show for when both go live aren't that many, but going forward there’ll be much more of the dynamic content [and they] will have a bigger effect on each other.”

Which exactly means what the IGN article implies.... that regarding the first season (meaning this entire year) we won't be getting a lot of new episode missions that connect With the show nor will they be dynamic.

So we will have to wait till Season 2 (aka until the show and game has settled itself more) before we will start seeing any real dynamic content between TV show and Game.

So if the TV show gets canceled after the first season, which wouldn't suprise when it comes to SyFy doing what it does best these past years with mishandling good TV shows, like region Locks all over and canceling them, but keep crap programs (wrestling, reality crap) running.
.... we will most likely never see any true dynamic cross over content they were so raving about and hyping all over.

    -----------

I know for some a little critic is hard to swallow at times and it's easy to bash IGN, because you did not like what the guy said... fine, but he does have a valid point!
If you like it or not.
That's your take on it, but I don't see that the quote rules out the show having an effect on the game (ie episode missions). It makes sense the game can't impact the first season really, except in very limited ways. Anyone with a brain already knows that.

Doesn't that then fall under false advertisement? Just to say it blunt?

You and I both know, if the TV show even gets a second season, that it will be at least a year away!
A lot can happen in a year! Like SyFy backing out and canceling the show if it doesn't meet their viewing rates.

    -------
A lot of hardcore fans on these forums are all raving about Next week and expect a ton of new content and Direct involvement With the show via dynamic tie ins!

They will be in for a rude awakening! That's for sure. I cannot blame them, as it's how TRION and SyFy are advertising the game and TV Show!

So I expect a lot of incoming rage Next week.

I am sure if they had praised defiance to sky high, you wouldn't mind their lack of integrity.

‘no we can’t do horses, sorry.’ !!!
You have got to be kidding me. Why is Trion incapable of doing horses? What other things were they incapable of doing?

I'm sorry, but connection between show and game was one of the biggest interests for me. And now it looks like there almost won't be any. I was wondering how they would do it, as it seems extremely difficult to match weekly new episodes of the show to constantly "evolving" game world. Now I know. They didn't plan to have a large symbiosis between them from the beginning.
Another marketing campaign that was full of half truth and crossed fingers.

    @OP:

Not even going to lie; I stopped reading when you posted a link from IGN. I have completely lost faith in those morons.

They're like the Fox News of the gaming industry.

You are not the only one!

I myself had no expectations for the first two pilot episodes to be honest, but had expected that the rest of the episodes were not fully completed yet to keep room for dynamic possible changes and tie ins between show and game... you know! Like how they advertised it!

A lot of People are going to be very dissapointed in the coming weeks. That's for sure.

False marketing at it's finest! lol.

Anybody who thought that the game will impact the first series on TV are deluded. However, the first series will most defiantly impact the game due to ease of DLC etc.

I'm really enjoying this game. Its kind of the WoW shooter on console i have been waiting for! Also, I'm very excited about the future and whats to come!

the first season is filmed and in the can already. there will be weekly episodes that tie into the show released to the game, and dlc as well.

it's likely the results of the post episode 13 (i'm assuming it's a 13 episode season which is usual for syfy) dlc will have some bearing on season 2.

ign has been rather opinionated about the game from the very first "first" impression. dark matter will eat their poorly played overpaid reviewers something serious. the one heading the impression videos is the same guy that gave a high score to diablo 3 after only finishing 3 acts of normal.
