The first season is already shot, episodes in the can, there are no episodes left to film, and one of the creative person in this article talks about season 2 and I do believe that Syfy has already committed to a second season as well.

Most of these quotes are old and from various other sources not exclusive to IGN they just put them together to make a story. The tie ins will be episodic missions most likely Pre planned with show events, will they be heavily dynamic up front no, but can we get to that stage sure! They just have to lay the ground work first, remember this is a new concept their will be growing pains.

Also who cares why they can't do horses, they don't fit the world IMO. Also it's really hard to make a convincing horse in an realistic looking setting cause we all know what a horse should look like, mutant bugs are easier you get to start from scratch. Seriously give me a quad anyway.

I'm really enjoying this game. Its kind of the WoW shooter on console i have been waiting for! Also, I'm very excited about the future and whats to come!
Exactly it will work both ways in later seasons but just because first season is filmed does not mean the game can't be changed due to it.

Another point would be horses just like all the rest of plant and animal life highly likely mutated in some way. Maybe they all shrunk to pocket sized and that's why they can't be done?

You and I both know, if the TV show even gets a second season, that it will be at least a year away!
A lot can happen in a year! Like SyFy backing out and canceling the show if it doesn't meet their viewing rates.

    -------
A lot of hardcore fans on these forums are all raving about Next week and expect a ton of new content and Direct involvement With the show via dynamic tie ins!

They will be in for a rude awakening! That's for sure. I cannot blame them, as it's how TRION and SyFy are advertising the game and TV Show!

So I expect a lot of incoming rage Next week.
New content will happen, as will some tie-ins with the show (they would have left some room to edit these things in), but we wont be seeing any really massive impact until later on. Its not as if they are filming the show on a weekly basis and revolving the entire show around what individual players do. If anyone realistically expected that, I dont know what to say to that. Theyve explained on a few occassions that these things will be fairly minor throughout the 1st season, and not based on individual player actions, but rather the overall playerbase and added in more as time goes on.

Ive understood this for quite awhile from the information they have given. If others expected much more than that, they were simply turning what was actually being said into what they wanted to hear, as they so often do.

Look at it like this. The 1st season o the show is going to impact the game more than the game will impact the show. After the 1st season though, that will start to turn around some and the game will have a larger impact on the show instead.

How are People deluded, when both TV show and Game are advertised and hyped that way?
If they are unable to create the dynamic between TV show and Game now... then it won't be any different for the second season. As they will face the exact same Challenges and limitations.

This Whole Dynamic TV Show and Game Collaboration / Tie in becomes more and more a big Marketing Hoax!

Sure we can't expect to completely influence entire episodes realtime... but I had expected at least more flexibility and dynamic content tie-ins in the first season!

People buy and pay for the game now! No one gives a rats "rear end" about what might happen Next year! If we are Lucky to even get a second season of the Show or the game itself lost most of the player population! Like I said before.... we are talking about SyFy and they are as unpredictable as any other major TV Company these days. /shrug

I have an online friend through another game who's in the TV show, season 1 is all finished and he's soon to start on season 2. Annoyingly he wont tell me anything about the show. He also did some motion capture work for the game.

I've always assumed that the crossover would be largely mentioning events (as we've seen already) and maybe a player's character getting mentioned once or twice... That's pretty nifty on its own. Clearly, we're getting parts of the plot for the shows characters before the show. That's awesome. If we get anything more than that, I'll be ecstatic.
I totally wrote the first Defiance filk:

Also, I used to recruit for the Anarcho-Syndicalist Revolutionary Union <ASRU Ark Hunters> (on 360 NA), but no one was interested, and I don't know if I'll ever bother playing again.
