Personally, I feel if your not willing to submit a ticket or complain to Devs then you have no place to complain as your not willing to help yourself.

Just to make sure, have you actually talked to support about the issues your experiencing?
No offense, but it looks to me like OP is just kicking and screaming about a MMO that didn't have a completely flawless release.
This is Trion we're talking about, their last MMO- Rift had a good deal of bugs on release but were quickly dealt with, the game quickly picked up and by large it is still very successful. Almost every MMO has a shaky start, but after that things can only get better right?
Logging-In Issues: Unable to log-in without delay or issue.
Character Loading Issues: Loading beginning character interface frozen.
Invisible Gun Issues: Can't visible see gun in hand or able to fire.
Timed Out Issues: Being "times out" of server every 5-10 mins.
Server Lag Issues: Unable to see enemies/characters - I could go all day with this one.
Mic Issues: Unable to hear people in groups larger than three(3).
Open world flaws: Falling thru the ground into space, crashing vehicle into unloaded objects.
Vehicle mobility: Being stuck in small spaces on nothing.
I have a lot more issues - those were just a few examples.
That's insane. I honestly have not experienced any of those issues. Most of them seem like they could be related to latency/lag.
- Does your internet connection suck, by chance?
- If not: Have you tried running a traceroute between yourself and the server? There could be an irritatingly crappy "hop" between you and the Defiance servers.
Thanks for the reply,
I live in Boston(city) I have a very good internet connection.
I currently have two(2) PS3s in my home. I have not tried anything drastic.
Last night I was "timed out" over and over again - I just gave up on attempting to play for a few hours after work.
Which platform are you trying to play this game on? Sorry to make a blind assumption but if it's a PC and your PC is not exactly bleeding edge performance-wise then I could see how many of your problems may be more unique to your client situation than the game in general.
EDIT: Ah from you last post I'll take it you're running this on a PS3. Still not exactly as good as a top-line PC would be today at any rate. *shrugs*
I like to think I have my moments, thank you. :P
You're still missing the point. You're complaining to and demanding an apology from the wrong people. Trion can't kiss your *** and make it all better, the game will only improve with time. I will say it again, since you seemed to miss it the first time: Trion do not, I repeat DO NOT get to make the call of when a game releases or what the prices of items will be. They can't change, interfere or act on anything based on principle or personal distaste, because if they don't, they don't get to eat. If you show insubordination, you can be fired, that goes for any job and includes video game developers. The design team make the game, but they don't sell it or get to dictate how or what it sells for.
Defiance doesn't have any subscription fees, at all, not even a subscription model running alongside free to play, the fact you seem so entitled that you can't grasp that they'd need to sell it for something or not get anything out of the experience at all makes it seem like you won't grasp any concept I throw your way in their defense. Trion don't get to choose what the game retails for.
The dev team don't choose the launch window, don't dictate whether or not a game needs more time to develop before launch and do not set the price of the game. Retailers choose to mark-up the prices of their stock. You paid 60 whatever the hell currency you're using for the game, that's Gamestop's fault not Trion's. There are multiple sites and blogs online, including these very forums that clearly outline any and all issues that exist with the game.
Not only are the devs actively trying to fix these issues, but they're acknowledging them and communicating with the community in an attempt to fix them. This game is a gamble for the developers, if it doesn't sell well, or if the TV show tanks and that hurts sales, then they're out of luck. The fact they're working to fix issues with a game that may or may not last more than a few months depending on sales, means that they are gambling their time, effort and paychecks on whether or not the game succeeds enough to warrant the dedication required to sustain an MMO and all the work hours that will go into patching and fixing those errors. Those exact same work hours would have been put in before the game's launch, if the release window didn't have to be close to the series'.
If your food in a fast-food place is wrong, you go up to the cashier and ask them to remake it, if they consistently get it wrong, you ask for a manager, providing either they or you aren't an imbecile or a jerk then your order gets fixed and you go on your merry way. You don't demand an apology, you explain to them what's wrong, and they fix it. The arguments you make using analogies like this one don't work, because you aren't considering the right context or even blaming the right people.
I loathed Dragon Age 2. I detested Dragon Age 2. It was a cut and paste mess that wasn't worth the pre-order I spent on it, I spent a good while feeling cheated and angry at Bioware for it. Then I realised something, I did a little digging, a little research, I educated myself a little and all the little pieces fell into place. EA were to blame, not Bioware, the dev team just make the game, they don't ship it, they don't sell it and they can't actively deny the demands of their financiers, they can try to persuade them that the game isn't ready, but if they aren't willing to listen, the game will get released anyway. Somewhere in the design process they realised they'd be stuck working under someone unreasonable and prioritised making the writing and characters as strong as they could be before release. It played like a sack of crap, but the writing was good, not great, but good, but the devs worked with what they could, while they could, where they could. After they're given a final deadline for release, unless the game is literally 100% unplayable across all platforms and formats, it won't get delayed, because the people above them in the company don't care about the player, only their wallets.
The same situation is here. Trion have done an amazing job, and while the game definitely has its issues, peoples with problems on the same scale of you, are definitely the minority. It might not seem that way, because unhappy players are generally louder, more obnoxious and more vocal than happy players. The people enjoying the game are too busy enjoying it usually to bother posting how much they're enjoying it on the forums. The unhappy players on the other hand never seem to shut up.
I understand your frustrations, I get that you feel like you need someone to blame, but pointing fingers at Trion and demanding an apology won't change anything. If you're really falling through the map that frequently while driving, then submit error reports in-game to get the issue noticed and fixed.
Also, since the point of my Call of Duty paragraph went way over your head: It doesn't matter what franchise you play, if its a game centered around single-player tailor-made levels designed exclusively as set pieces to progress you to the next level, not to explore or to roam around in (even if it's possible, that doesn't put it on the same scale as say Defiance or Skyrim) then it will always be easier to bug-check and fix than a game of this scale. Uncharted, Bioshock, Gears of War etc. any game you can think of that isn't truly open world and isn't entirely online at all times, any game like that will always be easier to bug fix than a game of this scale. The context is completely different.
And just in case I haven't said this enough so far: Trion, do not choose the release date, or the game's prices, they work with what they can, while they can and are working to fix the issues they weren't allowed or able to patch up before launch.
You seem to greatly underestimate how much strain the game's servers are under with the game live like it is compared to in beta. Believe me, it's a miracle the game runs anywhere near as well as it does with the population it has at the moment, and the fact they're working to fix what's wrong at all is a positive sign for this game's future.
Finally, I said earlier that this game wasn't subscription based. It has no subscription service to sustain it unlike many other MMOs. (And I despise subscription fees on videogames, so my personal thanks for that Trion, not sure who made the call, but good on you for having an updated mind-set on the matter) Defiance will need to be sustained and maintained by retail sales, DLC, and micro-transactions. So long as there are people playing, it will cost them money to run the servers and continue updating the game with content, that money has to come from somewhere, so it's a retail release with a fixed price-tag, or would you rather have to pay a monthly fee just to have access to the game you already paid for like so many others?
Want an apology all you like, Trion aren't the ones who can or should give it to you. There's no changing that, and there's no changing my mind, or anyone else's on this matter.
