I don't think you are crazy at all. This game plays like a console action shooter. Using a controller works just fine. I play side-by-side with my keyboard/mouse buddies and we all contribute pretty much equally. I recommend the PC version. It has potential for higher resolution, has better textures, has less lag in huge group events, and hasn't had the server issues still being fixed on the Xbox. Plus, you have many options for voice outside of Defiance itself, so you can work with one your clan or guild prefers. The PC version even allows you to turn on Xbox button prompts, so all button mapping and hints refer to the buttons on your controller.
play this game @ 1080p on my 235" inch projector screen, you haven't seen and arkfall until your team mates are lifesize.
Honestly, other than the random DC's, I don't have any issues at all. No Lag. No FPS problems. But then again I've spent quite a bit of money on my PC... Depends on your PC speed/video card and your network connection. I would suggest PC with the xbox 360 pc controller.
I use an xbox controller and keyboard and mouse. Most is xbox, but some inventory management is better with keyboard.
e,g, I have a macro in my keyboard to cycle to the next load out. It still goes through the screen change and everything, but eliminate misclick.
If you do this, Do not remove delay between keystrokes. The game seems to ignore it if it cycles too faxt.
So, I do the same exact thing. I find that you can drop into KB/Mouse and the XBC on the fly to be exceedingly helpful. Both interact at the same time, which makes it so you can have a mouse in one hand and a d-pad in the other. LOL. But there are a few issues to using the controller: first, the Y axis is crazy. There is little to no analog compensation and you can find yourself flinging your sticks in every direction to compensate. Second, the "Aim assist" is practically non existent. There is a modicum of apparent tracking assistance, but when you quick scope, there's no snap to target or any thing like that, it may frustrate you if you're a big controller guy, or may not, if you like the added challenge. Truthfully, there is a level of precision that is lost in using the controller versus Mouse and Keyboard. I hope that helps.
