So basically you're saying that leaderboards in games are simply another debugging tool for the Devs. I don't discount your notion, but it leaves the obvious question as to when the average player is ever supposed to be able to trust that they are accurately listing people who aren't cheating.
Thus the conclusion that leaderboards are -always- pointless, at least as far as trusting them for their supposed purpose.
I like the leaderboard. If only it works correct tho. I use it to see who is slacking off in my team. Do you really want some one that does 0 kills in your game, if he/she isn't even the healer. I seen some people in PvE 4 man co-op arn't doing sh*t, but just follow the team.

I personally think that the leaderboards for arkfalls should be removed. Keep the loot screen, but who cares who did the most damage, killed the most, or revived the most players? The point is to get the arkfall done so we can get our loot, key codes, scrip, and salvage and be on to the next one.
Leaderboards at arkfalls only encourages selfish play styles. No one revivies and people drive their vehicles because everyone is too worried about being first on a pointless leaderboard. Remove the arkfall leaderboards and all will be well and good again.
Y'all whine too much.

the leaderboards on ark falls and co ops arnt accurate any way, i am always dead last no matter how many kils i get , or how many people i revive. it allways says zero for damage. clearly if you get 112 kills in a co op, you would assume some damage had to be done. if you get 90 kills in an ark fall, some damage had to be done. if you solo and ark event, CLEARLY some damage had to be done!

It's very easy to tell when leaderboards are full of cheaters. For example say the score for gold is 1,000. Generally that challenge will be set up in such a way that the score of 1,000 is difficult to get. So when you see the top score on the leaderboard is 3,600,900 while 2nd place is maybe 1,150 clearly something is wrong.
So yes, in most games leaderboards are only good as tools to see which players are cheaters and which challenges need to be looked at. Unfortunately that's just the nature of online games, leaderboards will never be a fair listing of scores. Of course, this is easily fixable. All you need is an admin to look through the scores. Anyone who's got some stupidly high score like 200x what anyone else is gets banned and the challenge gets fixed.
Again I don't deny the idea that the leaderboards can be used as an indicator for exploits that need to be fixed. But your "easy" fix would require Trion to pay a human to babysit a function that's supposedly meant to be able to take care of itself. Sure that might be "easy" but in the real world highly unlikely to happen.
All of that is academic. Having to "hope" or "assume" that the current numbers on a leaderboard were put up there by someone who didn't bother to use some kind of cheat/exploit makes them more or less irrelevant.
I don't think they should be removed but improved, I come first quite a lot since I do a lot of damage to the main enemy crystals, hellbug monarchs etc. I usually only have 2 or 3 kills though. people who focus on killing the smaller enemies or the healers don't get acknowledged when they should. Also people should be deducted points for killing the little bugs that bite the crystals especially those who just drive round in circles squishing them.
