I could have sworn a dev mentioned before that not every tv episode will generate new missions in game but cant remember where i had read that. oh well be nice if the article was right about that though.

Not sure if it has been suggested but maybe it's just a way of saying "Hey, play our game and make sure you are prepared to watch the TV show too!" Perhaps they will stay in the game.

This is a BTP title, having limited one time missions adds a weekly/bi-weekly incentive to log in. I personally have no problem with it, but understand others concern.
Maybe adding them back into the game, for everyone (even people who completed them previously) at the start of the next season as a nice plot synopsis to get everyone back into the plot line would work.

While they lead into one another in some ways, they both stil can stand on their own. You don't *have* to play the game to understand the show, or watch the show to enjoy the game. Though obviously you can and get a few more cookies and details about the world as a whole.

This appeals to me (hell, I am intending on learning the languages) but I can understand that not everyone is *that* interested. >.< But they don't have to be. Someone can just watch the show and understand and enjoy that story without ever noticing the crossovers.

But I see the intro page says to be sure to complete the Episode mission before the show airs?

Should I run through and do those real quick? I would hate to miss out on them, or miss out on their story because I was moving at a Snails pace. I am just now to Crater
The Game and the Show work together. Nolan and Irisa started here with us but will be leaving to go to Defiance (AKA : St. Loius AKA The Show airing next Monday at 9PM Pacific on Syfy )

While that is true, it is a given that it's a bonus to lead players/viewers into diving into either the game or the TV show if they only do one or the other; for both Trion and SyFy...more potential copies sold and more viewers tuning into the show every week. I myself am very interested in seeing how the show will turn out and will be one of those watching on the 15th, looks awesome .

I could be completely incorrect and perhaps they will be removed week after week, but part of me also feels that maybe it wasn't suppose to be taken so literal; it could be just a way to try and convince players who might not necessarily be interested in the show to reconsider.

This is why I believe all episode missions will stay in the game. To me, the "get it done before the show airs" part is saying that it's to better understand what's happening in the show. Considering each is supposed to be stand-alone, I don't see removing the episode missions helping, as you'd then have episode missions that start mid-story and would be lost.

I could be wrong, of course.

You are, unfortunately, wrong (currently). Sledge has stated point blank, after the 15th these missions will not be available.

Evolving starting point for the MMO

I would love to see them evolve the starting point in the game as the show progresses, it would be awesome to have created a character before the release of the show and then come back, create a new character, and be started off in a completely different way from before.

Also, why not make content that is going to be moved out of the game over time? That is kind of the whole point of creating an evolving game such as that. When it comes to the sparseness of the game content right now though, yeah might be a bit sparse, but the fact is that a major component of the storyline of the game, the show Defiance, has not actually aired yet, and so I am sure that there is going to be a ton of new content that is going to get added into the game as the show progresses over time, hence why they have the DLC season pass right now.

Really, I think that its hard to know what is going to happen, even for the developers and the content writers because if they hold true to what the advertisements are saying, the game and show are going to evolve off one another, and this is really only the beginning of that process. I am excited to see what happens to be honest

I can see this from both sides. But in the end it comes down to both a money issue and a continuity issue. Money because by making the episode missions timed you have more of a chance to get the majority of players to buy the season pass or buy the dlc as soon as they come out instead of waiting a bit. as for continuity they have already state how the show and game intertwine if the same person is on the show and in the game at the same time it just does not make sense and will deter people that enjoy the combined experience from playing the game. Also this will make items unique and rare to have. I am just wondering how the cameos of the real players in the game going into series will work especially for those people who have names like Er3ham43 or some such bet you they get x out of the chance right off the back in favor of people who have better sounding names.
