Thread: Bloom?

    Bloom?

What does Bloom actually do in the gun stats? I mean if you increase it what are you actually going to gain?

Bloom is the expansion of the crosshairs (cone of fire) as you continue to fire. Imagine the crosshairs as flower petals "blooming" and opening up as you fire.

Think of it as reducing your guns accuracy when going full auto. Less bloom means you retain your accuracy better when constantly firing. If you have really bad bloom(see LMG's) then you likely have to avoid full auto nearly all together.

You want bloom reduction. An increase in bloom is a reduction in accuracy. The stock on my sniper rifle provides .95 bloom which is really a (100% - 95% = 5%) reduction in bloom.

So for an LMG or AR you would want the best bloom you could get I suppose, because of the rapid fire rate?
Where as in a sniper rifle or shotgun even a pistol the bloom is not necessary?

As a side note I put some kind of sight on my AR and I hate it. It is more accurate but I was already used to aiming without the narrowing down the sight gave me...

You want the smallest bloom you can find. If you're going for big numbers in bloom you're going the wrong direction. Smaller is better no matter what the weapon is.

bloom pertains to your cone of fire, ,
if you are moving your cross hairs will get larger,
if you continuosly fire, you cross hairs get larger.
bloom basically is how much bigger your cross hairs get. the lower the number the better.

recoil is how much your cross hairs move while fireing. also the lower the number the better.

accuracy pertains to dispersion with in your cross hairs, or bloom. how often a round fired will land close to the center of your cross hairs

I don't know if they've set it up this way, but in the real world with automatics, the barrel gets hot and you start to lose accuracy as the metal changes shape. It 'seems' to me that my saw gets less accurate the longer I hold the trigger, but I'm not sure.
