I love how this game is done, puts more focus on skills and gives the game more variation. Rather then just 1 guy using a single AR the entire game, which is rather boring. I don't think i have a favorite weapon type, but i have a favorite gun from each type.

+ iv found surprising damage from random weapons i never would have used otherwise.
I'm not arguing that we should be able to only use 1 AR the entire game, however if we are going to be forced to switch weapons have it be a meaningful switch. Not trading EGO 100 AR with 222 dmg for EGO 250 AR with Identical stats. IMO if there is no weapon progression then it is stupid to have to switch to a new identical weapon in order to continue progressing. Its not like we are going to try different types of weapons JUST BECAUSE the game made us switch. No we are going to go get the exact same weapon or as close to it as we can get so they might as well just let us keep using our old guns to level.

I don't get rid of every good weapon I max out but I also almost never use them again so solely because I don't gain xp so what is the point in keeping them?

Also, just because we would be able to use only 1 weapon doesn't mean anyone is going to do so. It just isn't "fun" to be forced to change in order to progress.

I'll address what you said because apparently some kids cant stay on subject. Flame losers will flame. On point though, yes, it is a very stupid system. Once I find a weapon I like, I tend to try to master it. I find it hilarious that they do it this way. You don't give a US Army soldier an M-4, make them qualify with it every quarter, master it and tell them it is their life in the battle field, then tell them they have to quit using it and now have to use a Ak-47 in order to continue to master the M-4 further in the future. It's pure insanity. Players should be allowed to use whatever weapon they want, when they want and gain xp for that weapon as they use it. It just makes sense. Maybe we should gain xp in running only after swimming?

I dont agree with you OP, i kinda like that i Have to change to a new weapon, not every gun you loot or buy is the same, some of them add fire dmg etc. So you find a weapon you like? Then keep it after it's at max, thats what i do, tho, i do change to a new weapon to gain more skill and yes i do mod every gun i find and keep, who cares if you have to grind more script to get that extra mod? I know i dont.

I like this game and i see lot of threads where people are asking for things that shouldnt be in this game.

I like how the system is, when I really like a weapon I keep it after leveling it up. Sometimes the bonus on full leveled weapons is sweet too.

What I find really disturbing is that we can`t level weaponskills in most arkfalls. I mean, come on! Shooting hundreds of tons of waves of hellbugs should let me gain my weaponskill. Does anyone know if this is intended or an annoying issiue? This really gets on my nerves.
When I was little, we found a man. He looked like, butchered. The old woman in the village crossed themselves... and whispered crazy things, strange things. "El Diablo cazador de hombres." Only in the hottest years this happens. And this year, it grows hot. We begin finding our men. We found them sometimes without their skins... and sometimes much, much worse. "El cazador trofeo de los hombres" means the demon who makes trophies of men.

Strip mods apply to new gun... Problem solved.... I really do think people miss the point somtimes. I have my trash guns I use for leveling.. And my sweet sweet baby iv been building up for arc falls. With all blue mods that thing is a monster now :-)

First off no one is going to use 1 gun the whole game. They're going to try different stuff to see what they like.

Second off this system does not add variation to crap. It just makes you run to the vender to buy the exact same gun you were just using.

And finally this system deters you from using other types of weapons. I would probably have four load outs with four totally different weapon sets right now if I knew I could just level them as I pleased. Instead this system has me using four load outs, that are ALL ar/pump shotty, and I use 1 load out 95% of the time with vendor trash guns in it.

I'm sorry but with a game that takes SO long to level fully (5000 ego) this KILLS variety. I know what every AR in this game does. I know the ones I like, I know the ones I hate. I know that at 1500 ego. I would love to try out some different weapon types, but NOPE can't do that. Gota just use the two I'm leveling. And I can't even use the types I like because I get no experience from them.

Your analogy is broken as the weapon xp relates to ASSAULT RIFLES not the m-4 itself, "mastering" an m-4 doesnt mean you will know how to handle the recoil of an ak or vice versa, but by mastering both you get better at mastering the weapons within the catgeory of assault rifles

I love the game, hate the gun system. I'm the kind of person that has fun while his character is getting stronger and I also really enjoy making a weapon and finally getting it to be great and using the heck outta it. However... this game won't let me have my peanut butter and jelly sandwich!!! I'm all like oh man I've finally found the perfect peanut butter but I don't have any JELLY! So I throw my AWESOME CUSTOM PEANUT BUTTER on the ground so I can get some JELLY! And so I wrestle with the PANTRY because it won't let me have either the peanut butter or the jelly at the same time... I WANT MY PB & J SANDWICH!!!

You have to switch to some other weapon in order to keep leveling your skill with that weapon type. This is completely counter intuitive to the Mod system and the EXP bar on the weapon. Why do I want to spend my time modding a weapon and getting the bonus on it, when I have to ditch that weapon in just a bit anyway? Now I'm being forced to use inferior weapons just so I can keep leveling my weapon skills. And I have to run around with a bunch of crap guns in my inventory so I have something to switch to when I max out my current gun. This whole system is really not well thought out. It's like 2 different people with opposite ideas tried to put this together. FIX THIS PLEASE ITS THE MOST ANNOYING THING ABOUT THIS GAME!!!!!!!

P.S. If you're one of the people who foolishly want to defend this system, just leave now, because I already understand how the system works and I know all the reasons why someone might justify it, I am a game design student and I understand how game mechanics work. This system is flawed and there is no legitimate defense for it.
Waaaaa I don't understand the point of the cheap white mods that cost almost 1% of what you make before the xp bar fills.
Waaaaa I'm a game design student that doesn't understand other designers (that are not students) opinion and pushed around by bean counters.
Waaaa the game has no defence in my opinion so nobody is allowed to have an alternate opinion
Waaaa I don't understand the concept of yes there probably was 2 people with 2 ideas that mashed them together even tho I'm a games design student that probably had to collaborate on things as well but ignoring the flaw in my own argument.
Waaaa there's potentialy other games design student reading your garbage that has no defence, because what you said is garbage

I like the system that is in place. It makes you branch out to try so many different types of ARs, shotguns, sniper rifles, etc. Yea, I get a little sad when my weapon reaches its max, but that weapon isn't going anywhere and down the EGO road, I'll find another one, one that provides all the mod slots and better synergy. Only wish we had a clan bank, doesn't even have to be huge. I just need a place for all my synergy mods.
