No Refunds for Game. No matter what.

Actually - coming over here is always a good thing. See, some people learn - like me - I have had an unopened copy of Ultimate Edition for a week.
I learned from Age of Conan - Aion...and they had relatively good launch - just no interesting content.

The more people complain, the longer I wait to open my copy. If the first DLC amounts to nothing - I get full refund. So people do learn from their experiences - and from the complaints of others. You know..fool me once...shame on...fool me twice....

In fact, Final Fantasy XIV, the MMO, that was out for a whole year - or two - was such an embarrassment for the company they made it free to play for years before they took it out completely for a full relaunch.
Thats how it should be , because discerning customers wont let companies cheat them out of their experience by releasing unfinished - nonrefundable games.

I am concerned , really, by what I read.
First, how likely is it that a DLC is the size of the full game? If the full game takes 4 days to complete...how likely will the DLC be bigger? It would be unheard of...even in the MMO land, huh.

Secondly, given that the TV show most likely will fail - what happens to the universe of the the second year of the game? Sure, they said the game will continue - but they also said other things the game apparently isnt.
Why would the TV show fail? Well...because it has to be better than firefly to gain following...and we know how firefly ended. So it has to be immensely better.

Third...I am waiting for a review.

Fourth...anyone here ever played things like unreal tournament? Yeah....that was an awesome shooter. So far, this sounds like one. Except not as polished - and have quests.

so...here I am waiting for the first DLC. If nothing impressive happens next week - I am going to return this game. Mostly thanks to the people who complained and made me aware of the issues.

Only reason I posted. I have given up on getting money back, but if it lets one other person make an informed decision to play or not to play, then it was worth it. If nobody posted about their issues with a product we would all still be buying chips with Olestra in them.

Well said. And good thinking. Especially if you purchased the ultimate edition, essentially all you got was a few shinier jewels than the rest of us, but no real NEW content. And I too question what the DLC will be and why I've posted about it previously. Essentially charing us $40 for more cosmetic items, and I too am worried about a game that is essentially tied to the fate of SCIFI TV show of all things.

Point about firefly was excellent. And even though I think they were trying to gain a following via the videogame, I think that will be backfiring for the show as well as people rant and rave about their experiences, because people who haven't "experienced the greatness for themselves" will be concerned by the negative reviews and ravings. Which will lose them business certainly.

You people that claim this isn't an MMO are dead wrong. Absolutely, completely, and entirely. It is advertised as an MMO, even the "Making of Defiance" on the SyFy channel call this game an MMO. Every source that speaks of this game claims its an MMO. In addition, if you don't read anything ever, you don't watch tv, and you just have your head in the sand, the game has ALL of the elements of an MMO. Since I am assuming that since you're posting here that you do or have played the game.

So what part of the "its an MMO" is confusing for you?

To the OP, I feel for you. I just got ahold of the support today and they where able to refund me the season pass(since it was purchased within the past 7 days), but I have to get with my bank to have the rest of the charges reversed to get my money back. But then I'm a PC user and purchased the game directly from Trion.

It's not reasonable to expect an MMO to run flawlessly on launch. Considering that the game is inherently multiplayer, it fits the bill, unlike SimCity.

I will fully agree with you that every game at launch has its problems. Unanticipated problems do arise, HOWEVER; This game is more problematic then most I've played (and I've played pretty much every MMO since Asheron's Call) mostly because they didn't give the game an extensive beta.

The glory far outweighs the agony, to phrase it. I've experienced plenty of bugs, but I barely care. All I want to do is play. I've played 7 days in a row and I can't wait for Day 8. And as for your completely unfounded stab at the show, I wish to introduce similar shows that were tipped to fail but ended up thriving.

It doesn't matter if it is an MMO or a Board Game. The man bought a product that is not working as advertised. I think he should get a FULL refund and an apology.
