    Whats the point?

I enjoyed this game for about 2 days and now im pretty much done. Once you complete the main quest and all side mission's , whats the point in playing. You don't need to grind for gear , i have have several oranges that i instantly turned and sold to the in-game store because their stats are worse than a white weapon 300 ego below it. The outfit's have no point to them other than cosmetic. I have played alot of MMO's and all of them offer some kind of bonus/boost to your stats when you equip gear. I mean how hard would it have been to make the gear at least have a point to it other than looks. Say i find a blue helmet that give +4 to my shield or something along those lines. They made all of these co-op maps that all end in fighting some big boss , for what , none of them drop anything. The only loot you get is more crap from random kills. I mean , why would you want us to sit here and play the game for hours and hours , doing arkfalls , or playing TDM , running thru the co-ops when the gear and items are not even worth the time you spent trying to get them.

Seems to me you have already made your mind up that this isn't your type of game.

It is a skill based game, not gear based. People are too bogged down by the conventional MMORPG mindset. And as far as missions/quests go...

    This isn't WoW, its Defiance.

Just cause you had a few orange weapons that you thought sucked... lol you do realize that the mods make the gun? Of course you wouldn't.
You would be surprised at the scope of things behind what you can do with a weapon platform once you get some sick mods, especially when they have good synergies.

This is an MMO, not an MMORPG or RPG. I'm HAPPY I do not have to follow that type of carrot stick progression and make sure I make raid nights to do so like I used to. As I said before, you already seem to have a very negative opinion on how progression is seemingly working out here, which is an important aspect to you. If you aren't liking it, why stick around? Not trying to be a cynical *******, but I can't possibly grasp the concept of continuing to play something that doesn't have a point to you.

I suppose the answer to your question is what is the point of any mmo. Ultimately to have fun, right?

I'm having fun. My ego is over 400 and I *just* finished the San Quentin main mission re the matrix.

I've played 2 co-ops, probably done 3-4 arkfalls (including minor ones), but mostly I get a HUGE kick out of the random events that spawn (whether its mutants, bugs or raiders at the moment) and can spend alot of time just doing those. I also just randomly wander around from time to time and come across events which, as of this point, I'm unsure are part of a mission that I just stumbled upon or are just events (e.g. like the non-main mission portion of san quentin where you get to take on the huge mutant at the end), such as Murder Island.

I have fun because the game rewards me running missions or just wandering around and gives me immediate satisfaction. Now, I have not played, after April 2, for any more than a few hours after work or on the weekends. So maybe my pace is just slower.

I'm also always on the lookout for the "perfect" shield or weapon for me. I really like the fast recharge time shields over the bigger hit pool but slow recharge shields. (Currently using a 2.85 recharge time one).
