personally, I find great faith in metacritic. It allows me to see what enough people are saying, and consequently actually encouraged me to buy this game (which I do not in fact regret.) Ironically the user reviews were actually saying positive things, although they are in fact known for being a bit pedantic at times and bashing things simply for fanboyism, but that is life.

I can't make my point any clearer.
BF3. COD. BL2. Crysis. point and shoot. millions play.

also, one thing I just noticed. a lot of people who seem to be really enjoying this game, time after time say they really enjoy playing with friends. I play on PC, and primarily play games by myself. One of the great joys of MMOs is that you can meet other people (without having your IRL buddies own the game) and befriend them and play with them. That is one thing that Defiance is missing and possibly why some people are having much less of an enjoyable time. The people who seem to be digging it the most, do in fact have other friends that play. I do not, and I grow bored trekking through the forgotten bay area by my lonesome.

I agree with this. The few people I've added to my friends list, I've actually met on these forums. With 750 posts, it'd be hard not to.

They aren't MMOs.... all of those except BL2 are played against other players... I'm talking about point and shoot in a PvE sense. There's no thought, no mechanics. You're either dumb or playing dumb here.

okay, aside from CoD being in this, I just lost a lot of faith in what you have to say. BF3 and Crysis are not simply point shoot. CoD, yes. BL2, yes. But, there is a difference in the other two games. There is more strategy than the common shooter. It has more gratification because of the complexity, and at least CoD lets you prestige 1000 times, which gives people a semblance of accomplishment. But, this is greatly more simplified than BF3.

    No kidding.

I have hundreds of hours into BF3 and played with/against the best teams on the console for months competitively. Completely just discredited your argument.

BF3 is pretty simple. Is it more in-depth than the over-hyped CoD? Yes, but I wouldn't call Defiance greatly more simplified.

lol, in what sense is BF3 even remotely comparable? You're trying to compare an FPS to an MMOTPS...

It's player vs player compared to player vs AI...

nothing is even remotely similar other than the fact that both games have guns...
