Weapons have a specific range at which their damage is higher than others.

Say a weapon does 200 damage from 1-20 meters. After 20 meters the damage may reduce to 150 and after 40 meters the damage may reduce to 100.

doesn't matter what 8 is.. what matters is it increases the effective range apparently

interesting, i have never seen this before.
my weapons deal the same damage all the time, even if i hit an enemy with my shotgun at 20m or so.
my sniper rifle at max range (when the enemy disappears)
    the same for my LMG
    mh...

Its most noticeable with pistols and SMGs - LMGs, Sniper Rifles, are generally longer ranged weapon, i doubt those will have that mod (well LMGs will because they are grouped with ARs). With a pistol you can literally walk up to an enemy firing the whole time and see your damage go up.

    Ex.
    10 meters out - 100
    9 meters - 105
    8 meters - 110
    7 meters - 120
    Etc...

    exactly.

it's lazy game design. how can the DEV's expect us to pick one weapon or mod over another if they give us bogus perks with arbitrary numbers without providing any explanation as to what it does or what it means.

    +8 meters ?
    +8 christmas trees ?
    +8 skitterfeet ?

what the hell are we measuring here?

if we're looking at 2 barrel mods for our pistol, which one are we more likely to go for after reading the following two descriptions?

    1. if you equip this barrel mod you will get an increase of x1.15 to your critical multiplier damage on a critical hit

    or,

we can attach a barrel mod that has a description that says:

    2. if you equip this barrel mod you will get "+8"

    seriously ?

even if it is +8 DefianceFeet. Whatever distance.. why would anyone find that mod attractive if they don't even know their guns base distance or base falloff DMG?

lmao... 8 christmas trees... I like that...

I've never seen falloff with sniper rifles, but have with SMG's, pistols, and shotguns.

I don't get whats so hard to understand about it...it says Falloff Damage +8.....that means it adds distance to your weapon before the damage goes down, so from paying attention to the game, everything is measured in meters. So.....if falloff adds range to my weapon, it's safe to assume it's measured in meters. Although I do agree that these devs need to give out more info on details so we don't have to spend time figuring it out on our own.
